Re: Calling all 5.3 &/or 6.0 owners...
Wow, that does look sweet. Is that a March pulley setup? I LOVE IT!
I really don't care a whole lot for the stock mounts that put the accessories so far up. That one looks perfect.

Re: Calling all 5.3 &/or 6.0 owners...
There was an article in Chevy HP where a guy put a 5.3 into a Fairmont. He fabbed the motor mounts and all himself to save money. Said that the motor wasnt even straight ..LOL. Anyway the guy got it all in and put an LS6 cam in it and a cheap turbo on it he bought off ebay.
Needless to say the damn 4 door blue oval was running 9's all day long. He is trying to get on pinks. You just cant beat the horse power you can get out of and LS series motor for your buck. I want to know what horsepower he was getting with just the cam swap. Oh and he did it all on stock internals other then the cam. With unknown mileage and the motor being from a junk yard .... pretty impressive. -Hart

I saw that article, it was the beater with the hood cut so the Vortec cover could stick out right? That was sweet

Re: Calling all 5.3 &/or 6.0 owners...
Yep thats it. I am pretty much going to build the same motor but its going in my 72. I have the motor and tranny just need to ECU flashed and the exhaust headers and i will start the swap. I want to make sure i have it all before i get it going.
I am using aircraft flexable hydrolic lines for the fuel lines and brake lines. I am also going to use some aircraft electrical connectors for some quick disconnects i am going to make for the chassis harness and a few other areas for a small accent. I work on FA-18 E/F's so the parts are handy ..lol

Re: Calling all 5.3 &/or 6.0 owners...
Sounds like a good plan. Your going to turbo it? If not, what headers are you going to use? Is it true that 4th Gen LS1 camaro/firebird headers fit our chassis with only limited modification?

I plan on either either blowing it or getting a bolt on of some sort like a vortec pro charger or something along the lines. Wieland makes a good supercharger that is a bolt on also for about the same amoutn of money. What i cant decide on is do o want a blower for more top end or do i want the supercharger so i can feel the poer as soon as i hit the peddle .....decisions decisions ..lol 68GMCCustom - we all wish we could afford that baby! lol -Hart

Re: Calling all 5.3 &/or 6.0 owners...
Ya several companies make nice swap headers specific to our trucks, but the prices scare my budget! I can find cheap F body headers all day on ebay/craigslist, but can't get specific answers as to whether they fit or not. I guess I will just have to buy a set and see if they work. And it would be cool to have a Procharger setup, but I love the sound turbos make when they spool!
