Cool Re: OMG, what a lead I got.

I hate to be the one, but as an observation, I guess this is a '71. But didn't the "71 Cheyennes have woodgrain instrument bezels and glove boxes. Also, the glove box had a Cheyenne emblem on it, right. I don't recall ever seeing one that had woodgrain door panels, with a black painted instrument bezel.

And I could not tell if the firewall had the factory chalk writing on it. It looked like it did not. These things make me suspect if this truck is truly original, or a resto. Then there's the 396 vs 400 SPID. Any body see anything else suspicious? Also, the SPID says CST. The emblem says Cheyenne????

All that being said, it's still a very nice truck. But as always, know what you're buying (to best of your ability).

If I am off with these comments, someone let me know. I would like to be wrong on this one.........

Supers had WG on the cluster and glovebox Cheyenne's had it on door panels only. Only the super had an GB emblem. Most 71's and a few 72's listed CST for the cheyenne super option. And no telling what the spid listed for an engine 396 400 both were used. If you look at the emmisions sticker on the innere fender is reads 402 ci

Re: OMG, what a lead I got.

Everything looks original (except the hub caps) to me. The Cheyenne package listed as Custom Sport Truck would have woodgrain door panels, no glove-box woodgrain, and no dash woodgrain. The engine being listed as 396 versus later listed as 400 is correct. I have not seen the shock option shown before (what is it?).

NICE FIND!!!!!

Re: OMG, what a lead I got.

He doesn't neccessarily know what it's worth,he just knows it was worth more than he was owed. It's a very nice survivor and would be a nice stock unmolested show-er.I would ask what he thinks he has to have out of it and offer less to see if he bites. He may like everyone else be feeling the recession and want cassh instead of a truck.

Re: OMG, what a lead I got.

Trust me he knows what its worth. He has several classic cars that are fully restored to the T and I me extremly correct restorations. But this truck is 100% stock (unrestored). As for the hubcaps that are on it I also thought they were wrong thats why he bought a set of full wheel caps from me.

Are you talking about the guy that owned it for years ago or the new owner. I took from the 1st post that a new guy just got the truck and some one is wanting to buy it from the new guy.

What a survivor... keep us posted.

Be honest with him, ask him what he wants out of it, and then go from there.

The new owner is who im talking about. Im guessing the son is the one that forwarded the picture to one of our members as I know he still has the truck.

If I remember correct this truck and a car were given to him by the original owners son as he didnt have a need for them. Why? I dont know. I know he took them as trade for some work but not all the work. It was more of a... You always worked on these for my dad and he left them to me so I dont need them so since your a friend of the family I will just pass them on to you.... Thats about all I got from the new owner when I hung out with him.

I was talking to his son, like you said, and I asked him just that. Told him the range was 7k-12k depending on alot, including the market (which does suck right now)

If you can get a better answer, by all means, let me know. I wouldnt be surprised if he ebayed it.

Re: OMG, what a lead I got.

That's a nicely optioned truck but with this market it won't fetch top $$$. JMHO Even though it's a BB it's also LWB (which I do like) and it doesn't have the extra sought out options such as cruise, buckets, tack, AM/FM radio, or tilt. These factory options would really add value to this truck. Agreed this is a rare low milage find and a very nice truck but...I am not sure it's a $25,000 truck in this economy. If I was to take a guess...I would say high teens at most. Then again...what do I know.
