Really liking the wheel/tire combo! That's gonna look good on the truck. Keep up the good work!

Re: 65 3/4 ton 4x4 buildup

Mixed some Rustoleum Industrial paint with Mineral Spirits 4 to 1 and shot the firewall and radiator support.

She like progress.

Current project is to finish doors, fenders, and hood.

Re: 65 3/4 ton 4x4 buildup

Had to put the 14 bolt in my Jeep, so the 65 now has a Ford Dana 60 rear end. The 60 was not holding up but I figured it would be Ok for 33" tires and now open.

Re: 65 3/4 ton 4x4 buildup

Ran into a problem, seems the radiator I have (supposed to be stock) does not fit. The 69 4x4 frame front crossmemeber is in the way, doesn't let the rad drop in like the 2wd frame. More research....

Re: 65 3/4 ton 4x4 buildup

What about removing the '69 crossmember and installing a '63-'66 radiator crossmember. I haven't measured to see if it will fit, but I wouldn't be surprised if it does.

Re: 65 3/4 ton 4x4 buildup

Found some info regarding radiators, seems that the V8 truck radiators sit above the frame anyway. Only the 6cyl radiators sit down into the frame, V8 rads are wider therefore they need to sit above. This is probably common knowledge to you guys but I am a Ford/Jeep guy learning as I go.

Is the search working for you guys? Doesn't seem to be working for me....

Now I just need to make a bracket for the rad to sit on and one to "clamp" it down from the top.

Thanks

I got the etching primer at NAPA, it is Finish 1, and the sealer/surfacer I got from Summit Racing. It is their brand.....new paint line. Havn't put any sealer on yet. Been busy building new wheels for my Jeep.....

Re: 65 3/4 ton 4x4 buildup

I really enjoy this Thread. You guys are doing some great work. Cant waite to see the finished product. What color are you going to paint it? I saw a 66 3/4 ton 4x4 the other day setting in a field near where I live and I have been meaning to stop and ask the guy if he would like to part with it. Your project is motivating me to move on that truck. Of coarse being that I have 6 projects at home already my Wife might kill me if I bring another one home. Great Job!!!

Hey, could you post some pictures of your very front leaf spring hangers? Are those home-made? They seem to line up well. Great looking truck keep up the good work!

It is a homemade crossmember, it is moved forward so I could run 73-87 front springs.

This is the only pic I have uploaded right now.
