Once they've been cooked they're no good because the metal has lost temper and it's probably warped everywhere. Also you'll never get the smell out.

But isn't there a company that actually "cooks" the paint off vehicles? Someone posted it here a while back. If the panels don't appear to be warped, than it may be salvageable.

I would bet that it is warped in several places on the sheetmetal and probably not useable for a g0od truck. Some parts could be salvaged but would need to be cheap, but I've been accused of under bidding.

Hey, the charcoal black primer look is "in" now.
Plus, it's already been lowered.

in one of the pics it looked as if the seat bottom was spared so i think it looks worse than it really is.

Unless you are in the business of salvaging these pickups, don't even think about it. I know a guy who gets much better ones than this given to him so they can just get them off their property. Aren't you the guy who had your 'burb in a mag? You know you are looking at JUNK.

It may look straight now but it may spring when you take off say the fender. It would be a gamble at best but depending on the price it may be worth the gamble just check it out real good. If nothing else it is worth the price of a good set of ralleys.

I've seen worse.....much worse. My son's truck ('88 Toyota) was stolen, stripped, and burned. Trust me, this one can be saved by a competent body person. The interior shot tells me that it didn't get as hot as it could have. The door panels, instrument, etc., show the effects of the heat that got to it when the windshield fell in. The tires aren't melted off of the rims, the head lights didn't blow out, the bondo (light blue color) didn't melt off of the metal, and the panels don't appear to be warped from what shows in the pix. A straight edge is the only way to know, for sure.

My bet is that it is totaled (!), but salvageable, for sure. I am gonna guess that it would go for a couple hundred, but wouldn't be surprised if it brought more. It's a strange world we live in.

i'm going to go out on a limb and say that it's a good thing the gas tank was empty! i depends on what you're looking for. frame up - yes! fix n drive - no. mine will need the same amount of work, new sheetmetal, interior, every rubber and plastic moulding, bushing and doodaa. at least the paint's half off!!

Take it from someone who has had a fire like that, the metal is warped. The fire I had got hot enough under the hood to melt the carb and alternator but didn't hurt the tires. I had to replace everthing from the front seat forward. Now you understand why I have a green hood!

Rain used to puddle on the old warped fire burnt hood.

I've called the owner of the shop twice and he says the trucks owner hasnt called him about the truck yet,that could be a good sign,I know if that was mine I would be having a fit about it setting outside in the weather with the bare metal,I want to go and cover it up with a tarp but the S.L.E.D. is envolved with the fire of the shop and nothing can be fooled with for now.I'll let yall know what the outcome is,cross your fingers but I got first debs on it!

Just think BIG-0 you will be saved all that hassle of stripping the bad parts and deciding which ones are good enough to keep.It looks like the body will probably be salvageable but if it's very warped it could be trouble.(of course you do thrive on adversity).I saw pics of the Orange 'Burb before it was finished or even painted.
If you get it it will definitely turn out nice.Your 'Burb did and now you have even more experience.
