Re: I got an award at the Fort Worth Rod & Custom Show

Thanks for all the nice comments guys! It does feel good to be recognized...I thought it was funny how many judges came by over the weekend to talk to me about it, and most of them asked the same question....does it get driven often? I intentionally left all the dead bugs in the AC condensor to prove that point!

Drop is CPP 5/7. with adjustable track bar. Wheels are 18x8 (255/45) and 20x9.5 (295/45)....no rubbing what-so-ever....of course except for the headers on occasion.

Sorry no build thread, but general stats are mild 454 with a 2004R OD Trans, 4.10 rear, Vintage AC, 71-72 Discs on front, Suburban drums out back, black interior with buddy buckets (center jump seat), factory tach gauge cluster, van tilt column, Cheyenne door panels, new chrome, emblems, mirrors, etc. It's a little peppy with the BBC, but mostly just a good cruiser. It is the factory color, but with the base/clear looks a couple shades darker in certain light, and also had white two-tone originally, which I'm contemplating redoing the top.

Re: I got an award at the Fort Worth Rod & Custom Show

Congrats on the trophy!! I was told by a judge once they don't like all the special displays and crap that some people put around their rides. He said if he sees mirrors showing the undercarriage, he looks closer at the body and interior. There's alot of stuff hidden when you have displays taking your attention away from the flaws. It's not always the case but sometimes is.

Overall not bad...it shifts good, smooth under light or part throttle, and a bit firmer under heavy foot...but not too much. My only gripe is that the lockup converter seems to come in too early, so I pretty much leave it in Drive (3rd) when in town, b/c it bogs pretty badly in 4th with the lockup at lower speeds. It has one of those vacuum switches for the converter, and I've been thinking about switching to one that is more manual....one of the ones that goes on the brake pedal, or perhaps even a toggle.

It's awesome on the hwy though!

Re: I got an award at the Fort Worth Rod & Custom Show

sweet ride Love the color!

I had the same problem with my 200r... I have the brake switch and after some more adjustment at the carb it now doesn't bog going into 4th (or staying in 4th too long at lower speeds) but it does rev up a little higher in 1st before shifting to 2nd. It's the best balance I could get. I like it now.
