Looks like everyone missed this one. The answer is, take the pump back to the store and get the 2 lined pump. The third line is a return to the tank. If your truck isn't plumed for it then they gave you the wrong part.

Far as getting fed up with the truck, that won't do you a bit of good. Any used vehicle will have some kind of issues. So as I see it, you have 2 options. You can buy new with factory guarantee and trade when it runs out, or you can tackle each problem as they come and learn. When you don't know what to do, I know it seems like an insurmountable task. The people on this site KNOW trucks! They are willing to help. What else do you need?

That's true, but it still would have pumped fuel, unless the suction was the one plugged.
And it is the right part if it had Cali emissions equip.

Poke, bypass the selector to the tank with the most fuel.
I'm going to PM you my cell number Poke, so we can communicate faster and get this resolved.
I can't have people thinking I don't give good tech help.

Re: Im about to call it quits

ok another update it seems to work when i unhook the pumps rubber line from the metal line and put it into a jar of gas it sucks the gas right up. i tried bypassing the valve and it dint work so i think there is some kind of blockage expressively since when i unhooked the valve. the rubber line to the tank was pressurized

Re: Im about to call it quits

You will need the right sized fitting or a piece of metal fuel line.
Just take the hose coming from the tank and hook it to the one going to the cab.

It may just be the switch inside acting up and not making the selector shift all
the way. Like Willet said, "just play with it".

Then your selector must be stuck in between. Keep switching it and maybe it
will brake free. You might tap on it a little too.

But it will run off of the jar of gas by the fuel pump?

You seem to be leaving out some info. Just try what I suggested THEN post the results.
