I ran about 60-65 the whole way. Its only like 240 miles.

I am a former OTR driver, it was a really easy drive.

Yeah, the K-10 with a Diesel will get good mileage, I am seriously thinking about a 4 and 2 speed in mine. Like this.

I started welding it in, pics to come.

Z101 has been nice enough to supply me with some Pantera and Metallica while I have been working.

I have the new hump all tacked in, I am rather pleased, going to take some time to get it welded out, probably going to eat up the rest of the day.

Hopefully by tonight I will have the transmission in the tunnel for the last time, and the clutch linkage all hooked up.

Then all I have to do is put the carb on, hook up the fuel lines, get the radiator back in, hook up the wires, fill it with oil and water and it will be almost ready to start less the exhaust manifolds that are possibly going to be a saga of thier own.

Over all though I am pleased with how its coming.

How will the driveshaft situation work? Just need a new tailshaft? Or do you need to get a custom driveshaft?

Got the hump in, ground and in primer. Waiting for it to dry now, then I will shoot it black, put a 2nd coat on, and then get the tranny installed for the last time!

Re: "The Beast" 85 Chevrolet Crew Cab Dually

I got the hump painted out with 2 coats, im pretty damn pleased, I didnt go crazy grinding it all down because the only wire I have for my welder right now is .035" so the welds are a little on the snotty side, but not my worst work either. Before I get going crazy on body work I need to go and get some .025" wire it will give me a smaller bead and make it easier to grind.

Also poking out in the edge of that picture you can see the edge of my new seats!

They are out of a 97 Tahoe that we junked here. The driver seat is cracking out a bit, and they kind of clash with the interior, but I am going to use them for now anyhow. I will need to modify them to make em fit, eventually I will get them reupholstered.

I just cant decide what color I want to go with on the interior, Black or red...

Anyhow, im gonna go see if I can get a transmission stuffed in it tonight.

Re: "The Beast" 85 Chevrolet Crew Cab Dually

So tonight as of 10:46 PM Central Time I turned the Key over, it cranked a few times until fuel reached the carb and roared right to life, didn't skip a beat!

I love this truck. I also got the drive shaft sent off to Keltons today to get it lengthened, as well they are going to put all brand new U-joints in it, and a new carrier bearing, then they will balance the whole works. I am pretty damn happy about it.

Hopefully tomorrow I will have enough time to get the seats mounted and installed, and the dash put back together, if I can get all that done, I will be able to register it Friday, and you know what that means, I will be out cruzin Friday night!

When I get it drug outside and cleaned up I will get you all some pics.

Re: "The Beast" 85 Chevrolet Crew Cab Dually

I will have more updates later today, I am scrambling to try and get the drive shaft and drivers seat installed so I can get it down to get it licensed, and registered.

I have the bracket for the drivers seat built, now all I have to do is get the nuts welded to the floor. Then I just have to cut down the passenger seat to match, get it mounted, and the carpet and dash can go in. Pics to come.

Re: "The Beast" 85 Chevrolet Crew Cab Dually

One of the happiest feelings a man can ever feel is driving a truck after he has put it together. When I got behind the wheel and put it out on the road, I could not help but smile uncontrollably. I love this truck!

I have to be careful though, it rides great, I mean really great, has sway bars in the front and rear, everything is tight, and a couple of times I have caught myself bookin on down the road at 80-90 mph not realizing it!

And the countdown is coming, I am leaving for NC in 9 days!

I still have a bit to do, I need to build a new push rod for the clutch tomorrow at school, that will be easy enough though, then I need to get the brackets for the passenger seat rebuilt so I can mount it up. Then I will be getting the carpet back in, and seeing if I can get some type of center seat or center console for it.

Also the passenger side windows don't want to roll down, so If I have time I am going to see about getting some working regulators in em. And grease everything up inside of the door. I also need to trouble shoot the power locks, and get the digital Dash and Cruise. If I get my income tax return on Friday, I will order them and get em over-nighted so I can install them Monday night.

Over all though I am very thoroughly pleased with the truck, in fact, I couldnt be happier with it. It is turning out to be a really great rig. I cant wait to see how it tows!

Oh, and here is a pic of the seat bracket after I modified it,

I have it all hooked up, the seat is fully powered!

I would much rather have a NV4500, you get the ultra low first, meaning you can run a higher rear end ratio and it will still pull harder than a 700R4 will, and it will take 50x the abuse a R4 will, I love this transmission, and if setup right it will serve you well for a very long time, and pm me your phone number, I will be going up there next weekend or the one after.

With the D60, I've already got some good towing gears. With that 1st I should out right be able to pull a house or two in 1st gear.

When the short 1st isn't needed, their OK to launch in 2nd gear? Haven't driven a granny 1st gear trans before.
