Re: Updated vs Old School Rolling Stock?

You can power coat the spokes with textured colors... My powder guy does it all the time..

Most likely 6's in front and 10's in the rear. This is due to lack of funds. I like both ideas, but would certainly go with the 18/20 polished TT2's if I had a set "laying around".

What about ChopperDr idea for getting the as cast finish on the spokes?
The steelies would look good & your size choice is going to be sweet.

I paid for these TT2's in 2000 so @ this point in time I got my moneys worth. That being said, I did speak w/board member TxFirefighter about powder-coating the centers. He wasn't ready for that kind of commitment @ this time. I was hoping to find a smaller version of one of these wheels for us to use as a 'test' & see how it goes.

While the steelies are the cheaper option typically, they'll cost me $$ now vs. some wheels I already have laying around. I would just swap back & forth but the steelies are 5x5 pattern & the TT2's are 5x4.75 pattern. I only want to set the trucks pattern up for one or the other.....

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

These were done when they first started making the larger diameter wheels over 10yrs ago so they were made in the USA. For the record, the 20x10 does not weight any more that a steel 15x8 GM truck ralley.

From my own experience every chrome 20" & bigger rim Ive picked up weighed a lot more than a stock steelie.

Re: Updated vs Old School Rolling Stock?

Thanks Scoti - I say go with the TT2's since you have them and they would not cost $$'s at this time. You could later find some steelies with the car patern that might work with the stock truck caps...

Re: Updated vs Old School Rolling Stock?

How about a mix of old school and modern?

15X8" American Eagle #031's..

Discontinued several years ago but they do offer many other new styles that look great on our trucks. I am not lowered so I run 31X10.50R15's but you get the idea.

This wheel was a knockoff of the Centerline Thruster which may still be available.

Just an idea..........

I wish I had known about the beater truck of the month contest!

Re: Updated vs Old School Rolling Stock?

IMO - go with what ya got since $ is an issue. I've been there. You can swap out later as mentioned earlier.
My personal pref is to stay billett proof - no modern alum wheels and accessories for a 60's rig or cage. I leave that for the street rods folk...
