Re: Well boys, I may be leaving the fold tomorrow
I have a 60-66 panel sitting waiting for me to pull it out of the hole its in, but that body style really never appealed to me. I have had 67-72 trucks since I was 17 so I too have been at them for 20 years. I had a 59 Apache in there and loved the wrap around glass (front and rear, as mine was the "optioned" version), so now that I eyeball the 64 I see why that year works for you, the wrap around windshield, coil sprung front, etc. Maybe I need to go eyeball that panel again, heck you may have just converted one to the other side!

Re: Well boys, I may be leaving the fold tomorrow
I will trade you a stock grille plus some $ for your grill from your 72...if your deal goes through.
Thanks, Michael

Re: Well boys, I may be leaving the fold tomorrow
This is the complete oppossite direction I wen't in. Originally I had 60-66 style chevy trucks, then got rid of all of those for my new herd of 67-72 trucks. However my dad used to do the 47-59 style chevy trucks and now he has about 6 60-66 trucks. Peoples tastes change over time.

Really? I could have sold you my square body then! Cheap! I just sold a '73 C20 custom deluxe. Fairly solid too. It had the wood bed floor (longbed fleetside).

Re: Well boys, I may be leaving the fold tomorrow
I can relate, I am feeling the need for a '64-66 big window shorty for a driver when my truck comes apart for paint.
Your taste seems to be close to mine so I'm sure it will look right on after you get you mits on it. Keep us posted.

Re: Well boys, I may be leaving the fold tomorrow
the 67-72 is gonna be hard to beat i would think long and hard before doing it. i have owned about 30 -70-72s and about 10- 65-66 and just cant make myself stay away from th 70-72 the reason you see them everywhere is because you just cant beat them, and as for parts well ,were theres a high demand for something they will make it, i think i would buy the truck and keep the other one till i made sure,,, good luck and i ant knockin the 64-66 ive owned them , i do like them,, vince

Re: Well boys, I may be leaving the fold tomorrow
I have always liked the 62-66 body styles. Was actually looking for a short fleet of this style when I found my first 67 short fleet and went that route instead.
Here is a shot of my buddies 63 GMC short fleet that I had a hand in customizing and working on. ![]() |

Re: Well boys, I may be leaving the fold tomorrow
Very cool! Are you going to have to find some 5x5 slot wheels to keep the same look?
There's a 64-66 big window short fleet in someone's back yard on Cheek-Sparger that I keep eye-gouging. I'd like to have it but I really don't need another. It's right off 26 where the 'old houses' are before Brown Trail.

Congrats, but like the song "Hotel California" You can check out, but you can never leave...I sold what I swore was my last 67-72 probably 8 years ago it was a 69 Panel, well I never quite looking at them, Bought a 69 Suburban last Sept., and fate stepped in and I am picking up the old 69 Panel for the second time in it's life tommorow for $150.00...Almost spooky?
By the way, Love the 63....And in TX you may actually be able to find parts..LOL ![]() |

...but... You'll be back ![]() I might have missed it... but you put so much work into the 72 to make it into a work rig... ? I've always liked the 60-66 trucks. The guy up the road from me restored a 64 short bed step side, six popper, 3 spd, painted it silver, and drove it as his DD in the spring/summer/fall up when I lived in NY in the mid/late 90's. He always waved when I passed him in my 67.

![]() ![]() It always bugs me when I hear the 60-66s aren`t as valueable as 67/72s.Who says?I`d pay the same money for the same condition truck.Heck,to me it`s not about money. But even still,in the world of antiques, age and rarity determine value as much as popularity. Watch out.Don`t start a new fad before I get mine. ![]() I don`t think i`ll ever tire of the 67/72s and still can`t accept not having at least one around. If I lived in TX I`d never own anything newer.I`d have a diesel-powered o/d equipped long hauler in a vintage skin.

My dad had one when I turned wrench with him back in the 70's. Loved that old truck, except at 6' 5" the knee's did take a beating!

I always thought 72 was the most popular. WHat do you think is more popular in 67 small window or big??

Re: Well boys, I may be leaving the fold tomorrow
They like both.I`ve seen it go from`72 to`67.I think now that guys are doing so much to them the upgrades of a`72 means little and it`s all going into the`67s.I always like a`71 over the`72 and always really like the small window`67 Stepside. Some still don`t like a Stepside on anything.Alot of car-coverts into trucks these days.
Back on track... ![]() ![]() At 5'10" it`s never been an issue for me. ![]()
