It`s a matter of personal choice.There is no 'best" when it comes to this.You didn`t ask Chevy or GMC.It`s opinion,no fact.Maybe you meant to ask,"What`s your favorite grille?"
My answer,whatever grille is on it.I like them all,1925-2007.

My perference is 68 with a stepside bed,as for as the side marker light,I welded my up and then turned right around and cut out bowties in them ,but this this is my perference.

im kinda all over the place on this one
chevy i love the 71-72 but think that it is best suited on a 4x4(i probly think that because a 71 4x4 has been around everyday for my whole life) but i am also very partial to the 67-68 2x4 or 4x4, but i kinda steer clear of the 67's being as i think they look odd without the side markers 69-70 i am kinda picky about i think they look good on certain trucks and if the truck is a 69-70 then thats the only grille it can have, but on a slamed and hevily modded truck i think that the 69-70 is the only way to go gmc's i think the 69-70's is the best all opinion of course

I was always a 71-72 grill fan growing up. Then a few yrs ago I was on a 69-70 kick and considered changing my 71 to a 69-70 front clip. Then sold the truck. Now I am older and love the old school look, so definitely the 67-68.
