Re: Air bag ?
Texastrendz, yah i know what you mean about talking crap to people on forums, its pointless and does nothing but make yourself look bad. and their is deffinately alot of helpful people here that have helped me as well, and i appreciate every bit of info that i get here, its a great forum to be on. question: you say you are running the re7's(200 psi bags), but than you also say you turn it up to 400 psi to play, isnt that pushing the limits of the bags 2x's their intended max pressure?
BigShoe24, yah i was planning on boxing the frame anyways even if i dont hop it or anything. yah i dont plan on driving it foolishly on the road, i like being a safe driver, it would just be for clownin in parking lots and at friends houses p.s. once again guys thanks for all the help Last edited by project 67 sub; 05-14-2009 at 12:18 AM. |

Re: Air bag ?
I am not sure what DOT line is rated at, but I think it can handle 300 PSI. I would look at the line you have to be sure, some are different by brand. Hydraulic line is rated at several thousand PSI if I remember right, so that will be fail proof for you.
As far as the bag goes, I have never used the Airlift bags, but I feel Slam bags ride too stiff, especially the higher PSI rated ones. I've used them, and that's just my opinion. It's still a great bag, just too stiff for me. I prefer to use Contitech 4-ply bags. They are in the middle of the price range, and are a 450 PSI bag. They can be had from 1/2" single port to 3/4" dual port I believe. I use them on the front of anything with a small block or larger up front just for a good ride. Minitrucks do alright with the 2-ply version though, as long as they still have a 4-cylinder.

Re: Air bag ?
i went with the slam bag, the way it is built is a good design, when you tighten the mounting bolts you are actually cinching the bag together. this is why you do not want to inflate a slam bag unbolted. just my opinion. i feel perfectly safe doing what i am doing with the slam bags, others may say diffrent. they do ride stiff, design and construction. you really need to see some cut aways before you buy air bags. i liked the slam design, firestone is nice to. never messed with the conitech or however you spell it.

Re: Air bag ?
If price is a factor, the hydraulic lines will cost you around $30-50 each depending on size and length. Last ones I got where 1/2".

Re: Air bag ?
yah i like the fact that the slams have an internal bumpstop in them and that is what i will end up running on my burb.
Twisted Minis, how much does the 1/2" hydraulic line usually run per foot? Last edited by project 67 sub; 05-14-2009 at 12:47 AM. |

Re: Air bag ?
It's not that much per foot, less than a dollar. The expensive part is the swivel fittings and labor building the lines.

Re: Air bag ?
oh ok thanks. what would be about the average cost for the service of building the lines long enough for a burb to run the lines from the front of each bag, to the back about right in front of the rear axle. and then from each rear bag to possibly a nitrogen tank and 8 valves? not installed as i will do that part, but just building the lines.

Re: Air bag ?
Roughly $30-50. I pay about $25 for the fittings and labor, then just the line by the foot.

Re: Air bag ?
Slams all the way. They are the originator on hopping trucks on air. My buddy ran 180psi, 1/2 Parkers and his 65 would come off the ground. You might look at running 12 valves, 4 T in to your exhaust that are smaller so you can adjust it when you want to drive it.
And yes your truck will be destroyed....Fast if you are running big valves and lots of pressure. |

I think the reason you haven't had any issues is because of the way you plumbed it. I use both push loc and hyd hose on a daily basis the push loc has a 4:1 safety factor just like hyd hose but is not recomended for pressure surge applications it has 1 textile or fiber braid as opposed to hyd hose which has multiple steel braids. I think if the crimped hyd hoses were replaced with just push loc you would have problems from pressure spikes which happen so fast you cant see on a typ. gauge. |
