Re: New Cab Floor

Some progress.
1st pic removed the PO mess, they overlayed the new corners over the originals.
2nd and 3rd pics show them getting cut off, and the cleaned metal ready for fitting my new corners.
The last 2 pics are showing the challenge ahead of me to make it work with the door and rocker.

Re: New Cab Floor

Here is the corner partially welded on. The area where it fits against the B pillar is not welded or fit yet. As you can see in the pics the corner patch contour is much different than the door and rocker, so it must be fixed. These are Tabco parts, the body line was formed almost dead on, I guess I was lucky there.
I have a set of no-name Taiwan made corners also from Keyparts, they are better in some areas and worse in others.

Re: New Cab Floor

More rust!! This is the drivers side door after the skin was removed. Maybe now everyone will understand why this project is taking so darn long lol, oh wait, thats right it doesn't matter now, the wife moved out last November! haha
At least I don't have to hear "that damn truck" anymore. Did I mention that I am having a lot of fun?

Looking good. How long did it finally take to get that door skin?

lol, yup. thanks.

We were going to get new tri-plus doors but we heard that they dont fit right around the window frame, so why "fix" a new 300.00 door? I have a new inner door bottom ready and am waiting on a full door skin to complete it. It was pretty bad, but fixable.

Re: New Cab Floor

Got the passenger side cab corner on and matching the door contour!!!
It was a job. Now I have to finish fitting and weld in the rocker, looks like it should go smooth.

Special thanks to ebfabman & mbgmike for guidance!! you guys rock!!

Re: New Cab Floor

Your killing me here. What did you do to fix that contour? Did you take any step by step pics?

Hey Dave, how is the insurance world? Did you get to try out your compressor and blaster yet?
No other pics, sorry. I don't have a shrinker/stretcher (yet) so I had to slit the part that folds around to the b pillar every 1/2", the metal went where ever I wanted it then, just more welding and grinding all the slits, but I have a shrinker/stretcher on my shopping list for the drivers side
If you plan on doing this also, I highly recommend ebfabman's cab repair video set.

Re: New Cab Floor

Insurance is boring that is why I am always on the site. No progress on my shop yet. I still have my Honda commuter on jack stands. Frozen bolt in bushing and I am having a hard time gaining access to cut it off. Plus my new parts aren't here yet. Hopefully I will get it done this Friday.

I will definately purchase his vid's when I get closer
