Knowing rust like I do, and knowing hand tools, you are in for a world of hurt if you think you'lll do it with a socket and rachet.

I have found having friends with large tools (3/4" socket set with very large breaker bar) is priceless...lol. That sounds kind of gay...lol...at least I did not say large tool!

If you end up with 1/2 ton trailing arms might just consider having them blasted first then get some one to weld some reinforcement plates. Shoot it with some decent black paint. Might be money in the bank for your lifetime then.

That's kinda funny cuz I was thinking that none of my friends have a larger tool and I do and then I thought........how in the heck would I know that???? LOL

My 2 cents worth. You need to get the truck on a lift, and have a torch available. I replaced the trailing arms on my 69 C-10, and it was pretty clean. After I had the blue wrench on the bolts that hold the arm to the frame they came loose. Then I did the same thing with the u bolts, they came loose. THEN, I heated the arms where the ubolts came thru the arm, and with a BFH, and a couple of pry bars they came loose. Dude you live in the rust belt, work smarter not harder!

You are absolutely right about that....no doubt about it. The second rule is on budget. Take your original number and mulitply times three....and don't forget a liberal amount of cash for the 'Oh crap I forgot to get the damn....' stuff.
