Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
Nice Truck! Love the rally's and the trucks stance too. I just bought an 84 GMC swb and I had mine rally's power coated. I'm working on the center cabs still. The flat piece on the center cabs for some reason were planted silver, under that silver paint is aluminum. What I've done so far is grind the plant off with a dremel. Next my going to wet sand them steping down the sand paper each time to smooth out the finish. Bamm, Shinnyer Cabs! I know it a lot of work but so far mine are looking great.

Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
summer heat is getting to my girl, so time for a/c, unfortunately, previous owners replaced motor and serpentine systems from a no a/c truck, but luckil, my parts suburban comes through as usual
old system new brackets, very dirty, cleaned everything up, finished pics tomorro so far, the suburban was a great investment, uncle left oil can under the hood and it got on fire, all it burned was shroud, power steering hoses belt and a few wires, it sat and sat, finally, he told me 200 bucks and its mine, great deal, also has new crate vortec 350 and new 700r4, with less than 3000 miles, new alternator a/c compressor starter, everything, i think it paid off, and my 82 gets a 91 clip |

Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
I kind of dig the color of that front clip. You don't see very many with that color compo on them.

and on the color its going to be flat black for now, i was going to do a proffesional flat job, but then i started of thinkin of a black and silver, but i have always liked the baby blue dark bue, and kinda leaning towards that now, in school next year i get to do a project and they always say they never get a really good job, or something cool, so i decided i'll do it, i want to kind of keep it stock, but have a little cool touches, so if i do the silver and black, im going to keep the lower chrome, and spit it like they did stock, but put some tribal flames in the silver, i have a rough sketch, and i think it'll go perfect with the 20" BOSS 338's im getting for her but now i kind of like the baby blue and dark blue, any opinions? |

Re: 1987 Chevy Silverado project
The last ones look the coolest, but do some research on them first. There have been discussions about the Boss wheels not working on the front of these trucks. You can do some modifications to make them work, just a heads up.
Where did you go to do the different wheel platforms? That would be a cool link to have. |

They were my favorite wheel too, until I heard of all the issues. Then I started looking at others. Yeah do a search on here about the 338's. There were several threads about them. I don't remember what all was involved, but it had to do with the end of the spindle, and rotor. Wouldn't clear the center cap of wheel. Last edited by JohnC; 07-22-2009 at 03:23 PM. |
