Re: phantom grille installed-pics
That is a Nice truck either way but I have never been the biggest fan of the Suburban front on a reg cab truck . Sub, Crew Cab , or Blazer it looks great. My vote is for the phantom grille on your truck .

Re: phantom grille installed-pics
Keep the ´91 face or the 86 without the phantomgrille. It looks cheap and boxy! I like the billet inserts for the ´91 face!

Re: phantom grille installed-pics
Just a question... did you have to swap the core support to go back to the 86 grille for the phantom?

Re: phantom grille installed-pics
Yeah, but it wasn't much trouble. Bigz has done this so many times he installs the core support with wing nuts...just in case....

Re: phantom grille installed-pics
Dang! Now that's funny! I vote for the Burb clip with one piece black headlights, smoked marker lights, and billlet grills. Just hear me out. The whole truck is black or chrome basically. Keep that going on the front.
Oh, and my wife's un influenced opinion was for the Burb grill. She said the phantom is "too... blah" "It just looks like it is missing something. I know it's not, but it looks like it is."

Re: phantom grille installed-pics
I like the truck, but honestly, I don't like either front end....in any flavor. I understand why people put an 88-91 front clip on back in the 90's...to update their old truck to look like a new one. But I don't understand why it is done today? They are "old" trucks now, and the older they look the cooler they look...IMO. If you want to keep it an 80's truck, put the original front back on it and detail the heck out of it...that would look better than the current two options.
If it were ME, I would stick a 73-80 front end on it...with a preference to a 73/74 clip.

I agree, but that makes us sound like "Later Haters".

Re: phantom grille installed-pics
Maybe he should put that in his sig. HotRod73---Later Hater Just kidding Jeff. I know what your saying. That's the great thing about the 73-91 square bodies. There are styling cues for everyones taste. I really like a little bit of all of them. If I had unlimited funds I would have one of each style Don't know if the wife would agree, but that's another thread all on it's own. With the range of styles of these trucks everyone can have their own style, their own likes, and dislikes. Another thing that makes this site so great is there is everything here, and people that feel the same way!

Re: phantom grille installed-pics
I like them all, I just like the look of the older round headlight models much better.
I have an old truck, I want it to look old too.

Re: phantom grille installed-pics
even tho I am VERY partial to the phantom grille, I really like your truck with the burb clip. I think everything about your truck is spot on, bigarmz. I've always admired the "cleanliness"of it, and I think the burb clip gives it that "clean street truck look that is show quality" where as the phantom gives it that "custom truck look that isnt quite show quality"...
get what I'm saying?

thanks man, and yep, i get exactly what your saying....matter of fact, i'm almost done putting the burb front end back on....just started an hour ago, and came in here to get a drink...its hot out there....got the clip back on and wiring harness already hooked up, and hood latch on...just need to line up some bolts, and put in the grille/bezels...it only takes me about 2 hours or so total time now....lol guess i'm gonna sell the phantom grille to partially pay for a billet grille for the burb rad support now,(yeah i know i need help)

Glad to see we persuaded you into another realm of confusion.
Shoot by the time you are done you can contract out changing out front clips. You will be a pro! |
