I love green, especially the dark metalic that is on there already.
Here is a pic of another members rig that I really liked.

That's cool vectorit. I just thought I would post another pick that showed the color of the truck a little better. I will keep you in mind if I decide to sell.

Re: 1971 Chevy 3/4 ton Teardown/buildup
Love the color of this truck, its a awsome truck. I got a little work done today finished getting most of the interior out, and still have the gas tank, but i need to drain it. So i have been kinda putting it off until i have to do it. Got a little help from my younger brother today, started tearing off the bed and ran into a little bit of a problem with the saddle tanks and i am not sure how to remove them so i will post pictures tonight when i get home. And then also ran into a problem with trying to get the stearing wheel off, didnt realize i needed a special tool to pull it off, and lastly not sure how to remove the wiper units, to take off the cowl.

Re: 1971 Chevy 3/4 ton Teardown/buildup
soo here are the pictures from today, the picture of the gas tank below, i just want to make sure i can remove the hex bolt to remove them from the truck, i am pretty sure they are not plugs. You will also see what i found today big surprise to me didnt even know i had it, it was in one of the boxes that came with the truck, Its the stock stereo have no idea if it works or anything, but i will probably just sell it. Also i cant figure out how to remove the wipers. I also included a picture of the fuzzy helpers that are out watching me work every day.

Re: 1971 Chevy 3/4 ton Teardown/buildup
Got alot of work done today dropped saddle tanks, and got the bed off, doors off and cowl off. I also built a cart for my bed to sit on that allows me to roll it around. So i need all your help in trying to figure out how to get my fenders off, i noticed there were two bolts behind the fenders next to the doors at the bottom. But i cant figure out how to get them out. I made my girlfriend help me get the bed off today, dont think she will ever be out there to help me again!!!! Damn free labor.. The frame is in great condition, but the bed needs alot off help, PO used alot of bondo on the bed rails, also a crack in the wheel well. But cant wait to get the framed cleaned off and see how it really looks under all the dirt.
I am thinking of trashing the gas tanks but i was not sure if someone wanted them?

almost to bare frame
So i got some more work done yesterday, Got both fenders off, pushed the truck outside and pressure washed the rear of the frame, mainly to see what kind of condition it is in, it is in pretty good condition, besides some surface rust. The cab will need a little more work that i first thought. The rear of the cab needs some help, big dents and some bent sheet metal. I also found some repair attempts by the previous owner that will have to be redone.

Re: 1971 Chevy 3/4 ton Teardown/buildup
So i may not get to work on this truck for a while i will be at school, but i will definitely be getting parts together and getting everything ready for when i return from school, i got what i wanted to get done before i left for school, its just money that will hold me up. I am pretty sure i will be powder coating the frame, i have not completely made up my mind. I have decided to try and fit 38" tires but i am sure my mind will change a few times before i purchase them. But anyways hope i can get back to work soon on this thing. Thanks for the input everyone.

Re: 1971 Chevy 3/4 ton Teardown/buildup
So i think i have made up my mind on the color direction of this truck, a dark metallic silver with the top of the cab gloss black, i have not seen it before on one of these trucks but i think it would look really good.

Re: 1971 Chevy 3/4 ton Teardown/buildup
Great progress on your truck. I was wondering if you could tell me what brand of camper top was on the light green 4x4 in the background? It looks like it is pretty new and it fits the truck really well!!!

Re: 1971 Chevy 3/4 ton Teardown/buildup
Its a Leer, I bought for the truck about 6 years ago it fits perfect, and it is really nice looking in person i plan on buying the same one for my truck i am building now. Its extremely light and easy to take off and put on.

Re: 1971 Chevy 3/4 ton Teardown/buildup
So i started looking at funds today, and i am pretty sure i will be able to get my frame ready to powder coat by december and hopefully during christmas break get it coated. But i am not sure wheather or not to put the lift and everything on before i coat to get everything to match and look the same. I have never done anything like this before so i have no idea what i should have done before i get it powder coated.
