oh I havent tried tightening down the tie rod end to the hub yet. Maybe thats the difference.

I figured it out. 67-70 tie rod ends do have a different taper.
I picked up a 71 center link and I see no difference at all with mine in the 67 at all. But Im gonna use it anyways cuz it has good inner tie rods and I ordered new outers from cpp and sleeves (for the price, why not?) I cant wait to get this all together. I still gotta save a few bucks for my lowered front shocks though

So guys. . . is there any difference im not seeing in the center links? oh and I had already replaced the pitman sometime back

67-70 (5/8" thread) tie rods are a different part number than the 71-72 tie rods, (11/16" thread).

Alot of these old trucks have had the steering upgraded when people add power steering.
Sometime this suspension stuff is a guess/measure job,... when people have changed stuff from what originally came on the truck.

I have no idea about your truck,... but I have seen what other people have tried to piece together to save a buck.
Stay with the 71-72 steering components and you will be fine.

I have a spreadsheet with additional part numbers that cover these year trucks with a few diagrams and some interchange data. it is not complete as yet, but may help decipher what fits what.
