Re: "Project 64"

I've got most of wht I bought done already. I took 2 months of vacation this year so that's what I did. I spent little over 7000 on the truck and I cant drive it. Or even sit in the cab on the frame for that matter. Money has been tight so I haven't worked on it much. I got to build the frame for my fuel cell to sit in, then I think I'm going to get it fired up. Should be nice and loud.

Re: "Project 64"

Heres a ? for yall. If you can see the gold wires I have. I think I'm going to keep them, but blast the wires and paint them black. I'm wanting to do the truck in a flat orange, like UT burnt orange. I think it will look sweet with the flat black and burnt orange. What do yall think about the rims and what's the best way to strip the gold and chrome off it.

Give it to a chrome plating shop. See if they can dip them to get the chrome off. Not sure what they will say about the gold though. I think the wires would look good gloss black, and the rim of the wire wheel orange with the flat orange body. The best way to do that would be to powder coat the wheels, and spokes, but they would have to be taken all apart, and could be expensive. Call these guys to see what it will cost. They're the best anywhere.

http://www.buchananspokes.net/

My son builds Cafe Racers from old CB Hondas. Here's one of the wheels he's done. Just to give you some ideas.

These have polished stainless spokes. I can't find a picture of the black spokes with red rims.

Re: "Project 64"

I think I'm going to try and blast them first. They are pretty rusted so I think it will come off. I'm only going to do a black rim right now. They wont be the ones I run for good. Just to get by so I already have the DP90. Cant beat free.

I ordered it in late July. I got the air management kit a few days later and the rear kit came 2 days ago. I'm in no rush either, my buddy is still working on getting his barn ready to build trucks so I have about a month before we can start on it.

I was planning on doing the wheels on my van with a flat orange/copper rim and flat black center. I've made a few cars in a video game llike that and it looks awesome.

yeah I wish I could do some more work to it. I have all my axle brackets cut out on our CNC. They fit good. Thanks to Jason at SD for hooking me up with the file. I'll get some pics up when I can.

Re: "Project 64"

You're further than I am. How long have you been working on it? You do have a lot done. I wish I was that far. Maybe another 5 grand. And a couple old ladies I was'nt to impressed with your first c notch but since then your work has really improved.

Re: "Project 64"

lol I hear you Alan, But were on good terms. Were gonna stay married and just kinda seperate.

The first C notch was what my buddy did when he owned the truck, I knew it was notched, but not that bad. I know better then to use c channel to notch something.

I've only been working on the truck since June. and I stoped working on it in July. I haven't touched the truck since then. I hope to get a little work done. in the next couple of months, I want to the the rear done and all bagged.

Nice truck! Sorry to hear about the big D man, sucks, been there done that.

Looking at the pictures on the first page, just wanted to FYI that you are missing the small cross sill right in front of where the wheel wells attach to the bed. Not sure if you knew that.

Yeah I knew the cross seal was missing, I wont be using them anyways since my back half goes up in the bed.

I hear ya on the Big D being over rated, But you know we never got along after we got married. It's no way to live.

Cool, I cant wait to see you do more, and I am kinda in the same boat with not much money so I am spending my time stripping paint etc, since that doesn't cost much money but does take time!

Btw, thank you for your service! I saw you spent a year in Iraq.

What Allan said "It's cheaper to keep her" But if you don't get alone living together it's not worth it. Good luck. I hope things get better for you. Be patient and keep the truck. You never know you might win the lottery.
