Re: Inline 6 questions

I have a nice 250 thermo hsg i,ll trade ya for the 292 thermo hsg. All chevy i-6,s have timming gears from 194,s thru 292,s. All same engine family. I run a 160 stat with a 3 core radiator and i just block off the front of the radiator some behind grill for winter use.
Been 6,in for 30 yrs.

Re: Inline 6 questions

John, the 292 housing is busted on one of the bolt holes for the outlet and I don't think it's repairable.

Mudbug, Just to let you know, when I bought my C-20 with a 292 the temp. sending unit was screwed into the cylinder head on intake side (toward front of the head) and my water temp. readings were always high.I thought the thermostat was shot, but after putting in a new one still had high readings.
Then I changed the thermostat housing to the type with a fitting to accomodate the sending unit, and plugged the hole in the head....no more erroneous water temp. readings.
