Re: Got kind of a wheel problem, any ideas?

Nice post "copperchevy" that's some motivation for me! Do the caps seat now? Funny thing is I'm a Welder at the local Shipyard, and I used to spend a good portion of my day grinding, but when I go home, I'm just a regular guy. I have no welding tools whatsoever and really no room or projects to weld on. I guess I need to find me a grinder then.
But one of my concerns with grinding them was if that would cause any vibration in my front end.
Thanks

Once you get it ground down to clear just take it in to the local brake shop and have them put it on the brake lathe & true things up.

I drove the truck after i did it and it felt the same. No vibration. The caps seat right in place. I got the hub pretty even using a grinder and then switching to a flap disc. Even sprayed some primer on it and sanded it down to find any low or high spots.

Re: Got kind of a wheel problem, any ideas?

Being so close to the centerline of the rotational mass makes any changes to it have little effect on the wheel balance.

A good grinding job could be good enough.

Give it a try and down the road when you rebuild the brakes have the rotors turned & while they are at it have them true up the hub surface for good measure.

Sweet thanks everyone, I'll have to give that a try, if I ever get a day off. Working 7X10hr shifts nights for the past 3 weeks, but next week it's off to SEMA, and dayshift when I get back.
