Re: What enging do you want in your truck?
i voted other. because like others said. ide go the cummins route. cuz backed with a 6spd trans you can get a cummins to bark like no other deisel ive ever heard. the cummins is 2nd behind the v12 detroits in coolest soundin deisels in my book. but a detroit wont fit it a c10 too well haha

Re: What enging do you want in your truck?
I agree the 348 is a sweet looking engine.
If I had buckets of money I would get me a 409 and stick it my truck. Kim |

Re: What enging do you want in your truck?
I have a mdly built 350 pushing 425 on the HP and 450 on the torque. I know, 350, the most over done, common motor but it's bullet proof and with the 3x2 intake it looks pretty good.

Re: What enging do you want in your truck?
that motor must have been out or built for a street rod 3x2 and long block hugger headers are a true sign

Re: What enging do you want in your truck?
Actually I had the engine built for me and didn't want to go with a plain Jane 4 barrel so I dropped a 3x2 on it just to add some retro vibe to it. The headers are hedmans but they are designed for a 55-59 that's using the original steering column so I've since removed them and have a different set on there now. The headers from the picture are collecting dust in the back of the garage, still wish I can use them but it would force me to run the steering shaft between the block and the headers, not a good thing in my opinion.

Re: What enging do you want in your truck?
I'm currently building a 383 Stroker for mine. I have a 5.3 with a 4L60E trans that I will not use for this project.

Re: What enging do you want in your truck?
I always thought an inline Chevy 6 with bore / stroke, Wayne heads, headers, Weber carbs on custom intake.
But, if I had one right now I would put a 308 Hudson with Twin-H power no matter how much firewall "finessing" I would have to do. |

i think a properly built 6.0 would make a ls7 seem pretty slow(ok not that slow but still)

Re: What enging do you want in your truck?
can someone give me a short list on these LSX engines..like what they came in......and would my old headers fit...I'm sure the intake wouldn't but what about the edlebrock carb I have.....I would love more power and could do the EFI and harness but a carb would be bolt and go..

Re: What enging do you want in your truck?
quick research says crate motor?? I don't see many crate motors at the u pull it??...
I think the 5.3 looks to be the new cheap up grade with the 6.0 being second check out this link for motor sizes and what they came in very good info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Vortec_engine

Simply put, the true LSx engine is an aluminum block The iron blocks are truck engines, but just as capable. Weight difference is only 65lbs Truck engines short blocks are esentially the same with small differences like: ~Serpentine system (vette's accy's closest, then F-body's, then Trucks stick out far) ~Intake manifolds (trucks' tallest) ~Exhaust manifolds (each application is different, TONS of them out there) ~Sensors. (several differences. With the right harness, and PCM, makes the swap job simple The engines come in sizes: 4.8L 5.3L 5.7L 6.0L 6.2L (cadillac only) Vortec 4800, 5300, 5700, 6000, 6200 Names: LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, LS7, LQ4, LQ9, etc TRUE LS1: 1997-current Chevy5.7L, 6.0L, 7.0L Corvette 1998-2004 Chevy/Pontiac5.7L Camaro Trans Am 2004-2009 Cadillac 6.0L CTS-v Iron LSx engines (still just as good) 1999-current Chevy: 4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0L Silverado 1500, 2500, 3500 Avalanche Suburban Tahoe Express Van SSR 1999- Current CadilLac5.3, 5.7, 6.0, 6.2L Escalade (99-current) CTS-V (04-09) 1999-current GMC4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0L Envoy Suburban Yukon Savana Van 2003-current Hummer5.3L, 6.0L H2 2006-current Hummer5.3L H3 Gen 4 engines4.8, 5.3, 5.7, 6.0L 2005-2006 Pontiac GTO 2006-2007 Cadillac CTS-V 2005-2007 Chevrolet Corvette 2005-2006 Chevrolet SSR 2006-2009 Chevrolet TrailBlazer SS 2005-2007 Holden Special Vehicles (all V8 models) 2008-2009 Saab 9-7X Aero 2005-2006 Vauxhall Monaro VXR There are a few Front wheel drive vehicles with LSx engines, but they don't swap easy, and the block castings are different. Re: What enging do you want in your truck?
LSX is the only way to go, lol. Whether it's a 5.3, 5.7, or 6.0,. They have plenty of power, reliability, decently cheap, and tons of aftermarket parts available.

Re: What enging do you want in your truck?
LSX, no brainer. I went the economical route, 5.3 truck motor for my ride, but the sky 's the limit with the LSX family. I'll never go back to a carbed engine

Re: What enging do you want in your truck?
I like the 235 swap. They are cheap and look very similar to the original straight 6, but then again. If I was going to update everything else I would go with an LSX motor!

Re: What enging do you want in your truck?
kinda greenish... but other then that why wouldnt it? i know a 7' has the extra cubes but the ones i have seen built up dont impress me as much as i thought they would(stock yes they are still amazing) but the 6.0 in a pink 99' camaro that terrorizes the track i call where i home is unlike anything i have seen big block small block turbo nitrous whatever; its like the damn thing is possessed and doesnt know the meaning "quit pulling"
