I'm a truck person, but still think stepside beds are fugly on anything newer than the late 50's trucks. Back then, they were built that way out of necessity anyway. Once they figured out how to engineer a fleetside, the stepside should have been scrapped.
Just my 2 pennies...

It is a whole lot easier to get stuff out of the bed on a stepper. Hence the use on the farm, construction, etc. Trucks were used for work, that's why they were all stepsides! Not until trucks became stylish did the fleetside rear its head (Think Cameo). Just ofr the record, the stepside is starting to make a huge come back, with its curvy fenders, and such. I've got nothing against a fleetside, I like them too, but seriously, hating on the steppers is just wrong! BTW Gancuda: SWB means Short Wheel Base.

On modern trucks they just look plain stupid IMO. Friend of mine has a '94 GMC extended cab with a stepside bed and that truck is the dumbest looking thing I've ever seen. Like I said... just MY opinion. You know what they say about opinions...

Eagerly waiting pics of the SWB big block truck.
Also SWB means Short Wheel Base. I have never heard it referred too as any other thing.
