Re: Show your Long step side.

Now this is getting interesting.
What about specs. Were all long beds the same length 8 footers, 9 footers ?
Were they available on 1/2, 3/4, 1 tons ?

Re: Show your Long step side.

These long beds must be rare .
I did an image search on Google and came up with none, so your the ones that have the photos or the real rare thing.
I wonder if it is possible to find out what the actual production numbers were, and if built in all 6 years 1967-72 ?

Re: Show your Long step side.

All of the production numbers are on this website somewhere. Here is the link:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=104816

I bought the 69 4x4 that was posted earlier in this thread.
It is one of 521 lwb 1/2 ton 4x4 stepsides in '69.

Re: Show your Long step side.

I bought this "plain jane" 67 C-20 a few years ago. It did not have a passenger sun visor or holes for one. It had the orginal l6 250 and a compound 4 speed.

Unfortunately it was dis-assembled before I realized how rare it was to be surviving.

The cab and front clip was moved to a '69 swb frame and the lwb bed was moved to a '71 lwb C-10.

Re: Show your Long step side.

75GMC ,Thanks for the production number listing.
An easy way to pick out a 8' from a 9' bed is to look at top of rear fender.
Notice the extra post pocket tube just at the leading edge of fender = 9 ft
Post pocket tube about center of rear fender = 8 ft

1/2t and 3/4t trucks were 8'/127"WB and 1t trucks were 9'/133"WB.Chevy Stepside/GMC Fenderside beds were the only beds until`58 when the Fleetside/Widesides were introduced. They were made through 1987 in 6' and 8'.`72 was the last 9'.

Re: Show your Long step side.

If anyone is inspired, here's one I found on CL:

If it was 4x4 I think I'd be going out to look at it...

I sure like that one. It`s a sweet little`67,even has 8" wheels on the back. It`s got a real vintage flavor to it.A tailgate and original mirrors, lose that black...

That's a beauty and an excellent price to boot. If closer, would
take serious look myself.

Right. It doesn't say anything about rust though. Anacortes is on an island in the Puget Sound, but it doesn't look too bad from the pics.

Speaking of rust, did all these long bed step sides come with wood bottoms ?

Re: Show your Long step side.

Here's ours. 68 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4. Born a 70 Chevy. Special-K may recognize this bed, we replaced the fleetside on this truck with this stepside back in November. The original truck was a stepside from the factory.

And yes, its snowing
