Re: "Road Toad" 70 SWB S/Side
My 67 4x4 has a different control arm than this truck, although they end up in about the same place but at different heights.
My 67 is VERY touchy going down the road, 5 degrees on the wheel will change lanes. Any ideas? It also has a dampner on it. I took a week off to tear down the ZX and clean it up. It has been neglected for a couple of years, and now I have an excuse to drive it.

Re: "Road Toad" 70 SWB S/Side
Sorry guys, that stuff is gone.
I do have some repop stuff like grills and stuff available, and some really clean 67 cab trim. Will advise.

Re: "Road Toad" 70 SWB S/Side
Sorry guys it has been a while since I posted.
We have rebuilt about everything and the painting is done. The bed went together today, and we will mount it this week and put on the fenders, steps, and tailgate. I post again then. Take it from me, a metal bed is not near as pretty as a wood bed, this thing is beautiful and the pictures can not do it justice. I wish I had all my trucks done in wood. We used a polished stainless kit with polished stainless strips. I Raptored the wheel well bed side, and the bed tops are filled. We put blue tape on the bed to keep from scratching it, so if it does not look too shiney on top and around the edges, it is protected. The wood was epoxy encapsulated after all holes were drilled, the final finished in clear urethane.

Conroe, that wood bed is beautiful. What species wood did you use and where did you purchase your parts from?

Re: "Road Toad" 70 SWB S/Side
Well let's just say we went over budget on the bed portion......
The original sides had some serious rust, and because the sides are two piece, with reinforcing creases pressed in, it was not worth the effort to save them. The tailgate was bent, and even the taillights and front panel were rusted out. Bought a used pair that had roughly the same issues, but scored a really nice set of fenders rust free. Soooo Mar-K had a big sale with free shipping, and we bought the sides, oak floor, and polished stainless rails and cross beams from them. The polished SS hardware is from Totally Stainless. So everything back there is as it should be, but not s single bolt is from the original truck. It looks so good I may jerk the metal floor off the red 4x4 and do it in oak also. It has got to increase the value $7-8k. With all the underside detail work you are doing Silver7, you might want to consider wood real hard if you have not. If you want PM me your emaul and I will send you the high resolution pics with the fenders on when we get that far. If you wanted it pretty bullett proof you could Raptor the bottom once together, but I think the finished wood on the bottom is killer. When we put this on the lift to install the exhaust they are going to die.

Re: "Road Toad" 70 SWB S/Side
A little update, mounted the bed today and the tailgate, then hung the rear fenders.
This set also shows the 292 and drive train in. Paint is not buffed out yet, will wait until we hang everything.

Re: "Road Toad" 70 SWB S/Side
Well the painter and I finally got our schedules in synch and he brought the cab back.
Danny Raptored the interior floor, firewall, and cab bottom. We had to replace the cab corners, rockers, and a small piece of the kick panels. We used our lift to get it off the cab stand, then dropped it on the frame.

Re: "Road Toad" 70 SWB S/Side
Hmmm the last time he posted anything was back in January. I would like to know if that is original GM medium blue?? he mentions it would be medium blue, so I'm assuming its an original color, but most of the ones I've seen medium blue or Hawaiian blue are a little lighter than this. I love the color either way!! So much so I'd like to know the paint code and brand he used.

Re: "Road Toad" 70 SWB S/Side
Once again thanks for the compliments!
Sorry guys, got sidelined building a new shop and house. I don't expect to touch it again until we move it to the new shop late this year. The color is PPG Voodoo Blue, with GM white. Voodoo Blue is the color on the new Toyota Land cruisers, so you can see their two tone to get an idea. It really pops in the sun, and I think it is the prettiest of my three. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=289840 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=1#post2826812 If I can get back what I have in it, it is for sale. But of the three, it is a favorite behind 67 SWB 4x4, the 67 has A/C......... I do need an extra hood for this truck.

Re: "Road Toad" 70 SWB S/Side
X2!!!! This build set the standard that I plan to reach with our 68', not to mention, I'm taking some inspiration from it in terms of color choice. I love the voodoo blue, and it is exactly what I originally had in my minds eye for the truck!
