Re: I figure it's about that time..

Matter of fact, it is in. I finished the 4 link yesterday mocked up with pvc pipe for links. Now all that's left is to take the pvc to the shop and cut and thread the DOM to the same lengths. If the shop gets the tube in I'll post pics monday night.

Re: I figure it's about that time..

Ok ok I have been keeping my hopes up and FINALLY the tubing showed up at the shop today! The shop is about 60 miles away so I will be going up there tomorrow..errr.. today now haha. In the meantime I finished welding the truss to the diff with the tig and got the brakes put on and the axle back together. So I will try to have pictures up no later than Saturday morning since the trip to the shop for me is usually an all day ordeal haha. Oh and also got my wheels ordered a couple weeks back. Going to be making a trip down south Sunday-Wednesday for some vacation to Disneyland but on the way home they might have the wheels ready and machined. I'm hoping but I doubt they will be done. I did some measuring in the rear and they are going to be cutting it VERY close lol. Anyone have any input on tire size for the rears? I don't want the tire to be sticking out past the lip of the rim TOO much. 1/2" on each side would be IDEAL. I think these rims are going to be an overall width of 13" so I was thinking of running something like a 325/25? Any input would be very appreciated cuz I've never done street tires like this before.. I'm used to huge 42" off road tires or 33" slicks haha I don't get this whole metric ratio stuff.

Re: I figure it's about that time..

OK... it's done! Got the links bolted up just now and everything roughly squared. All I need is a camera!!! I'll have my girlfriend snap some pics with her iphone in the morning since I pretty much have a junk phone right now.

Re: I figure it's about that time..

Here are some pics. I've got it set at my wheelbase, now after I get back from my trip next week I'll start the C-Notch and get the shocks mounted, finish the body work on the cab and hood, and tow it to get some paint on!

Re: I figure it's about that time..

Got my rocker panel repaired today. The chunk from LMC was only $17 and a days worth of effort was very worth the satisfaction. Just the cab corner to patch and the body work begins haha. But for now it's off to Sonoma for the weekend for NASCAR! I won free tickets on the radio so I have to go haha.

Re: I figure it's about that time..

Yes they are sway aways. Got them new on ebay for $300 Hopefully tomorrow night I can get on the tubing bender and make a hoop for them. Then I can roll it around again! In the meantime, lots of sanding left on the cab and hood.

Re: I figure it's about that time..

Ha, I didn't realize they made coil overs that short. I thought they just made the long travel ones......but then again I've never looked there for anything other than the long travel's. That's one heck of a deal for $300.00.

Re: I figure it's about that time..

No haven't started on the bedsides yet. I'm going to be painting it this weekend I hope, and I'll work on those right after the rest of it is painted. Hate to do it that way but I need to get it painted so I can start the wiring and interior done.

Re: I figure it's about that time..

Got it rolling around today and boy was that a releif. Finished welding the shock hoops this afternoon and trailered it to my friends shop so I can finish out the body work and prime and paint it. Had a close call last night while cutting some stuff on the hood. The grinder flung a piece up at my face and bounced off my cheek, went under my goggles and into my eye. I immediately got the particle out of my eye but was still in a lot of pain. Got it checked out this morning and everything is ok, I guess it just burned my eye a bit. Last time, 3 years ago, I wasn't so lucky. I had a piece of metal in my eye for over a week. My doctors thought it was just a scratch but I finally went to the eye surgeon and he got it out with no drilling required!

Re: I figure it's about that time..

Looks good......

Glad to hear you avoided a more serious eye injury. I've been real lucky, I've had to have metal removed from my eye only twice.

Re: I figure it's about that time..

Thanks CaptainFab. Ya eyes are not something to mess around with. Unfortunately I was too dumb and young and ended up learning that the hard way. Well I had a sucessful trip down to San Fernando Valley and was able to pick up my wheels. They look pretty darn good. I worked all last weekend on sanding down to the original teal color and repairing the hinge brace in my hood. I'm getting extra anxious to primer it now. Passing up a camping trip this weekend to hopefully get some major progress done. That's my buddy's 1960 F-100 were working on too. C-notches front and rear and GM saginaw steering conversion. Just trying to use the resources that we have. That thing has a 109" wheelbase! It's freakin small!

Re: I figure it's about that time..

Just been screwing around with an endless amount of body work lately. Need to R&R the rocker panel for the other side now too, found there was a ton of fiberglass/bondo in it when a chunk fell off lol. Also uncovered some kind of writing that maybe read "Fairfield" something or other, rusted into my passenger door. Thought that was kinda neat. Also need a skin for that door now

Picked up some nice yellow and black CA plates for it at the Reno swap meet this morning! It was a pretty good turnout today.

Got my heads finished the other day too. All I have to do is put them back together.

Re: I figure it's about that time..

Gahhh! Time to move my truck to another shop. I thought it was going to be another month before someone was going to move into this one, but it got rented out real quick so I have a week. Luckily my good buddy has plenty of room in his shop and offered me up some space to finish my paint and body. Well, busy week ahead of me after Hot August Nights this weekend.

Well that sucks having to move in the middle of a project........at least you have somewhere to go lined up.
