Re: Trying to buy a truck but no luck

71 and 72's are not the only 5 lug disc. Most well optioned 68,69 and 70 CST's came with 5 lug disc. My 70 CST is a factory disc truck. If you wanted the 71-72 look then find a CST and swap the grill.

PT ..I always thought that 1971 was the first year they offered disk brakes in our trucks? Is yours a late 1970 production? Is it listed on the spid? thanks

I am going to side with close69 on this one. My loaded 70cst came with six lug drum brakes although I did switch to five lug disc brakes. All 1967-70 trucks left the factory with 6 lug drum brakes... I think. I might be wrong so I'll let others chime in.

Re: Trying to buy a truck but no luck

Hmmm,
Factory disks on anything before 71.....Youd have to show me that one, cause 71's were the only ones with the pretty sticker on the tailgate.......

Re: Trying to buy a truck but no luck

I have seen several highly optioned pre 71 trucks with front disc. Now I have been wrong in the past. I did not see the spid on these trucks but I did talk to one guy in Charlotte with a 70 CST like mine and he said he was the sole owner of the truck and it came with 5 lug disc from the factory ?????. Where is Longhornman when you need him.

Re: Trying to buy a truck but no luck

If you do find one far away let us know. There are many times when a board member will check a truck out for someone else. Then you get a "truck guys" opinion of the truck.

Re: Trying to buy a truck but no luck

Maybe some sort of "dealer option" earlier than 1971... but I'm kinda doubting it.

Whos has done this and any advice on how to make a purchase from another state?
I bought my truck from a guy in Texas while living in Florida...round trip plane ticket to Houston...375.00...chance to spend a day looking the truck over...Priceless. I even got the PO to pick up the tab for the airfare. Drove it home next day. NEVER, NEVER, EVER buy one sight unseen.
