Re: New Parts, New PROBLEMS!!!
damn this is weird. so it misses once you put it in gear or when you take off? is the fuel old? i had a 74 nova that had some weird problems until i drained the tank with the old fuel. also it could be missing from fuel starvation. fix your idle and get your carb adjusted good then check your fuel filter maybe its clogged up of the filter in the carb could be depending on what style carb you have. this is a weird one

Re: New Parts, New PROBLEMS!!!
i don't know about in your climate area but here in the valley in california i've always tighten the air fuel mixture screws all the way down and backed them out 2 full turns each and run them this way and have no problem. then from there adjust the idle screw down to where you like your idle i usually run mine low. also did you have this carb on your old intake with no problems?

Re: New Parts, New PROBLEMS!!!
fuel pressure can have alot to do with missing problems. hell go down and get a new pump and see how it runs a new pump should be less than 20 bucks. also how old is the coil in the dizzy the coil could be getting weak and not giving enough spark

Re: New Parts, New PROBLEMS!!!
the coil is a year and a half or so old. it just seems weird that all this stuff is happening all at the same time then i change my intake. water pump goes bad.. missing, possible fuel pump and coil..

Re: New Parts, New PROBLEMS!!!
yeah thats how these trucks get. Mine is the same way they require a lot of attention like another girl in you life ahahaha. mine does this too i replace one thing and another acts up but right now she's running good. but yea missing problems are a pain in the ass. could be fuel starvation and spark. the coil shouldn't be bad. also can have a problem with the ignition module in the dizzy the california shaped piece in there. those usually go out and wont let your truck start but can be. i say if the dizzy is acting up get one like i did from ebay damn thing looks good and works great.

Re: New Parts, New PROBLEMS!!!
raw gas is running a rich condition that is unburned fuel. therefore the cylinders are getting to much fuel and it has to exit out some where. your mixture can be on the rich side. try adjusting the screws the way i said and see what it does.

Re: New Parts, New PROBLEMS!!!
i remember when i was playlig with mya/f ratio, it seemed like no matter what i set them at, it still did that. could it be a weak/faulty coil? or is my plug gap too big? (.045)

Re: New Parts, New PROBLEMS!!!
.45 is what i run mine at and it does fine. are you sure it fuel and not water? smoke can be a few things depending on what color it is. the coil can be weak if it was the spark wouldn't be an high enough amount of energy to combust all the fuel in the cylinders. also what style plugs are you running depending on them you can be running a hotter spark or a colder spark

Re: New Parts, New PROBLEMS!!!
ahaha yup mine is my daily too. sucks when you get up at 5 in the morning and head to school and it breaks down damn things but oh well got to love them right?? kragen or autozone should have a little chrome one that works fine. timing is everything man, you can also get a fuel pressure gauge and run it inline just before the carb and see what it is at.

Re: New Parts, New PROBLEMS!!!
It is very possible that you have a bad plug wire inside. I would locate the bad plug by pulling the wire off and see which one is missing. Then I would replace that wire with another to see if the miss goes away. I would also change out that plug.

Re: New Parts, New PROBLEMS!!!
alrite man like piecesparts said. The way ive done this is not the safest but you get use to a shock over now and then. Fire the engine up and have some one you trust put it in gear since this is when you have your problem. And start pulling a plug wire, if you pull say 1 off and it starts missing more then that 1 is not your problem then next go to 3 and when you pull this one off the missing stays the same. Bam 3 is the problem, you can do a resistance check on the spark plug wire too see if its good still or just inspect it for any cuts that would make it arc out. If the wire is good then inspect the plug maybe by accident that one didn't get gaped correctly or it has a lot of build up on it which would restrict the spark. Give it a try man. Good Luck!
