Re: Shortened 3/4 ton longbed

Dave, nice car bud. I think it's pretty cool you have a pic every year with it.
As far as a swb B.B. Sierra Grande, that is going to be pretty tough to come by period. To find one cheap, that is going to take a lot of patience and lifting rocks to accomplish. There aren't a lot of B.B. swb's period, and to limit it down to a Sierra Grande, I really think you would be better of making a clone in this case. If you were considering that truck at $5,000, you might think about finding 2 trucks. One a swb, and another B.B. longbed, and then acquire the Sierra Grande parts or make sure you find a Sierra Grande and take parts from another truck to make one. I'll keep my eyes peeled for ya down this way. Not a lot of swb fleetsides left, they seem to be what everyone wants. Good luck on the search. Good to see another with a passion for these trucks. That swb 4x4 you were looking at would have been up my alley. Cheyenne Supers are getting harder to find, and swb 4x4's are even harder with the Super option. Trevor

I love the pics of the plate idea. I think I'm going to do that one with my daughter.

Re: Shortened 3/4 ton longbed

I did find a '72 Sierra Grande SWB 4x4 up in Alaska, but it had a modest restoration (repaint and cleanup) and he wants $25K for it. It's a 4-spd.

I would be tempted, except there's no SPID at all. Hence, it really could have been anything to start with and I'd never know (except for what the VIN tells me).

Maybe I'll start a new thread on what I think I know about building a clone, and people can fill in the gaps that I've forgotten about. And while I'm planning that, maybe a genuine one will pop up somewhere.

Thanks,
Dave

If I do, I didn't get rich by writing a lot of checks :-)

I could have the restored Super Cheyenne of my choosing, I suppose, on eBay within a month. It's the GMC part that complicates, and the fact I want something not already "fully restored".

I say that because I keep running into vehicle after vehicle where someone has patched rust, sprayed some paint, installed new seat covers, and call the vehicle "fully restored". There's one in Alaska right now that meets my requirements perfectly, but its one of those situations and the guy wants $27,500 for it. And there's no SPID!

Too bad Dynacorn doesn't make cabs yet!
