Re: rustiest trucks

Before I saw those last few I was gonna post FRANKENTRUCK and it's donor farm truck from Missouri,...but now I'm reluctant to bother.
Anyway,...my less than impressive examples. FRANKENTRUCK as I found it:

Name: 121807 008 (Medium) (Custom).jpg
Views: 6623
Size: 58.3 KB

and alongside the Missouri flatbed donor. It's cab had fractured through the door threshold due to holes in the floorboards. Truely a POS, junkyard bound:

Name: 011408trucks 002 (Medium).jpg
Views: 3716
Size: 69.3 KB

The combination of the two worked out well though!
Todd.

Re: rustiest trucks

Here's my contender for rustiest truck still in operation ... my 77 GMC plow truck:

I got tired of looking at the former owner's red spray paint job that had faded to pink so last summer I spruced it up a little with some leftover Rustoleum I had kicking around the garage.

Passenger side rocker panel is completely rusted away:

The cab corner was replaced at one time but has rusted through again. The driver side cab corner & rocker had also been replaced and are still holding in there.

Cross sills under the bed floor are pretty much gone:

Bed floor is full of holes too.

And this is what's left of the driver side cab floor:

The black piece above the rust hole is an old door skin I stuck in there to cover the huge gaping hole. And the wire running over to the frame is what is holding the lower part of the fender in place (the part of the cab/rocker it used to bolt to is gone).

Amazingly, the frame is still pretty solid

I sure hope they're not driving them out on the public roads everyday. Mine won't pass the state safety inspection because the underside of the cab is too rusted out around the cab mounts and seat belt anchor points. So I just use it as a yard truck.

I haul firewood with it too, but have to put a piece of plywood in the bed to keep the wood from falling through the rust holes in the floor. The first pic I posted doesn't really show the true extent of the rust either ... the former owner's bondo job and my Rustoleum paint job is hiding a lot.

The front fenders were held on by plumbers strap. When I pulled the strap off the outer skins fell off. The passenger side door was held on by plumbers strap too, when I took it off and opened it up, the door fell off. Bed collapsed when I took it off, folded like a piece of paper.

Slowly but surely it's growing new skin...

Re: rustiest trucks

Believe it or not this is good for 700 bucks in iowa. I looked at some many pos before this one that were just gone all i wanted was a good first truck 73-87 for under a grand seriously search iowa craigslist i did for months. There are a lot of trucks with bad floor pans and cab corners so what easy cut and weld new fix even sell the parts in lmc. In iowa its all the beds and fenders bottom of the doors inner wheel wells. SORRY FOR VENTING but i found this board before i bought mine and i see nice cheap trucks and i looked forever if i wanted something that was somewhat rust free it had a skylift and was like $3,000 so frustrating

Seeing these pictures makes me thankful I live in a state that doesn't give the hiways a daily ration of salt.
