Re: Dumping Exhaust Under Truck?
Scoti is right, at least about my truck. Duals with 2 chamber Flowmasters cut off in front of the axle is just too loud for my taste. I am going to get the tailpipes put back on ASAP!

Re: Dumping Exhaust Under Truck?
dumping them is the way to go lol you get to set alarms off its awesome! Dont have to worry about your catbacks being even or falling lol. My trucks running dual flowmaster 40s that dump after the muffler behind the axle. It will rattle a little and the cab will be louder but its a beautiful sound

Re: Dumping Exhaust Under Truck?
Just split the exhaust behind my cat converter and added two cherry bombs with no turndowns. Has a nice throaty rumble now. Picked those bombs up at a garage sale for 5 bucks for the pair!!

Re: Dumping Exhaust Under Truck?
I have turn downs on mine too. It is a bit loud at idle in stop and go traffic, but once I get up to 20mph or so it is actually pretty quiet. I have a mild big block with full length headers going into 3" X-pipe, then out through Hooker Aerochamber mufflers. The turn downs are angled slightly outward, not pointing straight down.
The humming noise you hear is actually the Holley Blue fuel pump. Now THAT is loud.

Re: Dumping Exhaust Under Truck?
I've had trucks that had tailpipes and ones that had dumps, before the axle. I like tailpipes better because I hate the exhaust resonance inside the cab on the freeway. dumps make it louder mainly from the inside of the truck from what I can tell.

Re: Dumping Exhaust Under Truck?
I always got one with my 3-spd tranny with the engine about 3000rpm. After a while it'd make me really sleepy.. Maybe that's the grease-monkey's lullaby.
