Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Got the carb mounted, but not dialed in yet. Gonna need some help from my friend John to get it setup. I did get a package dropped off today from UPS. More exterior Rubber Weatherstripping. Front fender seal set, Hood shock insulator set, Hood to cowl seal, Junction box gasket, little plastic retainers for the double wall upper door seals, and upper and lower tailgate bumpers w/screws. Only leaves about 4 more to have everything I'll need except the stuff to rebuild the front door windows. Whew!!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Guy's I gotta tell you, if you have never been to a offroad park- GO! I went for the first time today, and it was awesome. Everything from mild to wild! My bud John took my daughter and I on a trip to remember. I will admit most of the trails are set up for Jeep type wheelers, but man they have it all! John even let me drive the jeep out of one of the easier trails. There was a couple custom buggies there that kicked some serious trail a**. I'll post up some pic's!

Thank's a lot! It was great to hear that baby roar again! Got a long way to go, but one step at a time! Still looking for 1 ton advise on the yoke/u-joint setup. So cool to drive the K5 again, if only for a minute!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Right on Burt! Be sure to take some pic's! I gotta pick up a new battery so I dont have to charge this one to start the K5. Probably pick up one I can throw in my boat eventually, when I get a red top or the like later. Got one super swamper going low, looks like I better go fill up my air tank! Not bad though, 10 years, 1 tire just going low, other three still look good. I mounted these tires myself by hand and must have done it right! Gonna start taking more pic's soon before I start ripping it apart!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Hey, my brain is working overtime again. Need to decide on my tire/wheel combo. I was thinking I wanted the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R, in 40-13.50R17. Was thinking of the Trailready beadlocks in 17x10 size. Contacted Trailready and no go on the 10" wheels, only 8.5. Can't get the 10" anymore. Started looking at Allied's Black Rock 8's. They make them in a 17x9.5, with a 3.5 backspacing. That sounds like it will work here, and I like the look and price. Anybody running these on 8 lug 1 tons? Any feedback here would be great, need to make a decision. Allieds price is better, gonna need 5 of them, so looking at cost's also. Currently running the TSL SS's in 39.5x 15x15 size on my stock setup. When I swap in the 1 tons, want to go with the 17'' wheels, and 40" or 41" rubber. Anybody got any help here?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
The driveline brake sure looks like a good option but yep, it seems expensive. Those MT/R's your considering would sure be nice - I had a pair on my Yukon a few years ago and really like them.

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Picked up my used set of 8 lug wheels today. Just stock GM wheels with the chrome rings. P265/75R16 BF Goodrich rugged trail t/a's on them. Decent enough rubber for now, tell I can afford new. At least I will be able to drive it in and out of the shop after the axles are in. Price was right and can sell them easy when I'm done with them. Gonna clean them and spray black, so I'll take some pic's!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Thank's YJ! My twin girls did real well in the meet today. I did get one thing done after the meet. I took the temp wheels and tires to the car wash and cleaned them up good, ready to spray the wheels tommorrow. Two of the tires are in real good shape, and two are worn, but useable. I'll put the good ones on the front and the worn ones on the rear! I will take pic's tommorrow and post them up here! Got word on my rear disc conversion kit, and it's coming soon!

Amazing what a coat of paint will do to a set of rims - looks good. Cute girls you have, handsome boys too!

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
That's awesome! Lots of real boys around here lately, what with 15 year old twin girls and my 11 year old in the pic's. Got stupid yesterday, and tried to show off for a couple of boys over seeing the girls. Decided I would launch the K5 into the back yard over a little hill. Well, I launched it alright, but forgot to secure the battery! Ended up ripped apart by my flex fan! The boys were impressed-with my stupidity! Looks like it just trashed the battery, not the radiator, luckily! Well, I needed a reason to get a new one anyway, right honey?

Re: My new build thread: Stage 4!
Great stuff right there. cant say I've never done something dumb showing off, like when i decided the 30 some people that just went tubing with me down the river should see me drive in it... all fine and dandy til it died, worryed me a bit, took a little longer to get it started than normal, Whew! Drive it out and park it.... it was still fun though
