Re: Big Block Headers in a 4x4 Blazer
I have had three sets on Monday the first ones were a horrible fit, the second ones I custom built and they worked good but the starter got hot because I had to move them in to clear the drive shaft and shackles. The last set was a stainless steel set off of a late eighties RV , they aren't long tube but fit great and seal awesome. I am running the diy4x crossover with taller mounts Kurt but for me, I don't t know how to post pictures but if I could figure it out I could put some up.

Re: Big Block Headers in a 4x4 Blazer
I made some progress though not on a header solution yet. I finally had the time to get the DIY4x crossmember/engine mount installed (love it). It definitely opened up some room but I'll still have the passenger issue with the header hitting the shackle bolt. I'm in the middle of installing all new stainless steel brake hard lines and a Wilwood master cylinder and booster...then I can get everything back together and figure out the header issue.

Re: Big Block Headers in a 4x4 Blazer
I still have the long tubes I took off that fit better after we reworked them other than the starter issue which I think could resolved with a late model small body starter if you are interested.

Re: Big Block Headers in a 4x4 Blazer
Thank you. I'm working a couple different scenarios right now. I'll be in touch if they don't work out

69 k10 bbc, Dana 60 front headman headers 69110 right side hits front drive shaft.
With Dana 44 front axle, the same 69110 headers fits perfectly. Help!! Text 7015093873 |

Re: Big Block Headers in a 4x4 Blazer
I can't make the Dougs D303Y headers work. I called Stan from Stans headers and talked to him for a while. He is driving a 68 C10 (Blown) and said he has been making the 154Y headers since the late 60's and never had a fitment issue. I ordered some in the "raw" and will get them on the 14th. They shipped within a couple HOURS of me ordering! Fingers, toes and everything else crossed that they will fit!
I will report my findings Thursday night! If they hit the $%#@&! shackle bolts I'm going to spend a couple G's on a coil over conversion....so the $800 headers will fit....because that makes sense....

Re: Big Block Headers in a 4x4 Blazer
I did! Driver's side fits like a dream. I was a happy, happy boy! Passenger side hits the DIY4x crossmember where it attaches to the frame. Maybe 1/8" more room and they will fit. So...if you have the factory crossmember, they will fit! They don't even come close to the leaf spring shackles!
These are Stans 154Y-14. He's a very nice and knowledgeable guy to talk to AND he is one of us. I think he said he drives a 68 C10 BBC w/blower. I will add some pictures tonight. I ordered mine in the "raw" because I was skeptical that they would fit. Now I wish I had them coated. Going to look at it again to see if/how I can "modify" the crossmember, because I don't want to get rid of either.

Re: Big Block Headers in a 4x4 Blazer
The first three pics are of the driver's side that fits perfectly. The last one shows how close they come to fitting due to the aftermarket crossmember.

Re: Big Block Headers in a 4x4 Blazer
Header nightmare is now over!! I had to slightly modify the after market crossmember frame bracket and I also trimmed about 1/4" off the top frame. I believe that if you have an OEM crossmember/mounts, these headers will bolt right up! Very stout and top of the line headers with 2" tubes, 14 gauge and 3/8" flange ground smooth.
As I stated/shown previously, they have plenty of room between the leaf spring shackles. I hope this helps someone.
