Yep. 3 bills isn't bad.

Reducing the chamber volume to help bump compression & better cam timing numbers will definitely help. The exhaust flow benefits from headers helps too (air-in; air out). I did the above & switched to flat top pistons @ the same time.

I shouldn't have to (not running yet). It's an ECM friendly cam that's set-up for the stock chip w/modified exhaust.....

Re: 88 3500 dually 4x4

the adjustable pressure regulater helps also putting in new injectors step up and put an msd 6al box on with a hotter coil

as far as flashing your ecm it will help even if you dont do any engine mods find some one thats reputable in your area so he can hook up his computer to your truck and drive it around you'll get the best results

I found my guy by going around to street rod shops and talking with guys that have computer controled engines in their rods and it seemed every one was using the same guy

Re: 88 3500 dually 4x4

Can't go wrong with the Edelbrock Performer matched packages, imo.

If you figure out how to run 35s on a dually let me know.

I was under the impression it was the 3rd letter of the vin that identifies cab & chassis. I was just told a B is C&C. That axle does look a tiny bit forward, but it's normal with a lift. If it were a cab & chassis (regular cab) the axle would be back, not forward. 4 inches back.

Re: 88 3500 dually 4x4

things have been moving along slowly on my truck but i have addressed some issues with the rear lift and removed the running boards and such got new tires and am rewireing the whole truck right now. The wiring had been cut up and had some pretty bad burnt spots in it so it is getting a whole painless wiring kit in it right now.

Re: 88 3500 dually 4x4

i still need to address some other issues but i have been gathering parts in prep to doing a motor and tranny swap. I have a older 454 with better heads that i am going to put in it. it also has the edlbrock tbi intake on it. I am also having a 700r4 built for it but i am keeping the 205 transfer case.

Re: 88 3500 dually 4x4

to run 35's on these trucks you just have to have lift and wheel spacers for the rear.

Are you using factory 6" wide wheels? What is the size of your rubbers. I understand they are 35" but other dimensions. What size wheel spacer are you runnin?

Re: 88 3500 dually 4x4

well had a little luck today. I had a set of factory 05 ford superduty wheels from another project that a friend needed and he had a set of american racing dually wheels so we did a little trading.

Those are nice wheels, but IDK how nice they'll look on your square man.

Re: 88 3500 dually 4x4

Personally I'd stick with the steel wheels or alcoa style wheels and take 2" out of the lift. PERFECT.

Re: 88 3500 dually 4x4

Love the tires on that truck, looks seriously mean. Tell me more about running that size tire, I didn't think you could do it on the stock rims.

I'm on my second lifted dually, and I hate that the tire choices are so limited. I have seen people run real wide tires on the skinny wheels, but I dont know that I'd dare. I mean, I've seen 36/12.50s done before. I had 255/85s on my 97 dually with a 1.5 spacer, no problems at all, but one tire shop wouldn't mount them because their book said no larger than 245.

Situation I'm in now, I've got 6 inches of lift and can clear plenty, but I've got a cab & chassis with a fleetside bed over it. With 235/85 tires they stick out a tiny bit in the back. I just don't know how much more I could fit on there before I ran out of room on the inside, but I especially don't want the tires sticking way out. If I have to put flares on, that ruins the tucked underneath effect somewhat, plus the fronts might look funny because they won't need fender flares. I've been tempted to swap it to a srw, just so I can run some 35-37 inch tires. Honestly I'd be happy with 33s I think.

Those pictures of the rear tires looks just like my 97 did, I always ran mud tires and it was a mean looking bunch of tread back there. Any chance you could get a measurement from outer sidewall to inner, so I could estimate where they'd be on my truck?
