I agree. This is the real deal. A lot can be learned from it.This truck looks very close to the way it did when it left the factory. Unfortunately it is almost impossible to restore one to these standards. To my knowledge the "base model" seat cover is not repoed, the hubcaps are not reproed and of course, the 350 valve cover decal is not repoed. The original owner did a very good job picking the great color and practical options.

A buddy picked up the shop truck from the shop he worked at. It was a 72 step side. The odometer had 34,xxx miles on it. The joke was there are twice as many on it as that because it doesn't record the miles racked up in reverse.

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,

Could this be the lowest original mile truck on earth?

How many on this forum have trucks with under 10,000 original miles on them?

We should do an original mileage poll on this forum.

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,

wow..id love to have that truck.. it looks like the real deal to me. my truck had 34k on it when i got it, i see many of the same things my truck had. i dont think it worth more than that 25k bid. thing is sweet for sure, but i dont think he will get more than that unless some guy like me won the loto..lol

also, there are lots of problems with a truck that has sat that long. i spent tons of money fixin stuff because of setting.

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,

I'm one of the "cats" who made a run at this truck. I had it appraised a week ago and I assure you it is real. I have 70 photos of the truck and I know every flaw it has. Seller and I did not come to terms but he's an honest guy with a very unique vehicle. I'd still like to own it...just hope it finds a good home.

What a great reference to use if you are restoring another truck back factory original.

These types of trucks should be purchased back by GM for thier own museum ( if a museum like this exists).

What about the SPID having G60 crossed out? And somebody asked the seller about the paint on the cab looking different from the rest of the truck. I guess anytime there's something like this that seems too good to be true people will be skeptical.
G60 were for the aux springs. They have been removed from the truck (witness marks still remain). Most likely they were removed by the dealer and added to another truck to make a sale for someone who wanted beefed up suspension.

GM does have a collection of vintage vehicles. It is called the GM "Heritage Center".

It's not open to the public but it is open for business meetings and they do host an open house for employees about once per quarter.

Here are some threads from our last couple visits, in April of this year:

http://forums.performanceyears.com/f...light=heritage

and in October of last year:

http://forums.performanceyears.com/f...d.php?t=614938

Many of the vehicles have less than 40 miles, some have zero. You might also see a car or two that was donated back to the appropriate nameplate division after the original owner passed away.

Also, this is a little off the subject, but the Heritage Center provided a couple vehicles for the "Suburban 75th Anniversary" celebration:

http://forums.performanceyears.com/f...light=heritage

There is actually too much stuff to be housed in this one facility, but the good news is the displays rotate fairly frequently being supplemented by vehicles pulled out of storage, so one visit can look very different from the last.

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,

I believe the truck may have 180,000 on it . Look at the horn button. It looks to be in bad shape. And where is the rear bumper? Do you think that some people would lie when selling a car or truck. Maybe the guy selling it on Ebay thinks it has only 80 miles on it. Maybe the guy that sold it to him lied. Be careful when buying something. Don't trust anyone.

Believe me when I tell you I understand not to trust ANYONE when it comes to buying older vehicles.

The oil on your skin, if left alone on any petroleum product long enough will penetrate it and often times cause discoloration. If it weren't stained there would be a concern over authenticity.

These trucks were sold without bumpers in most cases. In this instance, the owner bought a bumper from the dealer and never installed it.

I paid a GM quality assurance engineer of 40 years to inspect the truck. I have an appraisal/inspection report and 70 close up photos of this vehicle....real deal.

Re: 70 C-10 80 original miles,

The truck is in Wamego Ks (unless it has sold) and is local to me, I haven't looked at it but friends of mine have. It is the real deal without a doubt. The old man bought two that were just alike, (sadly plane Janes) parked this one and drove the other. I have heard that the other truck is completely rusted out but someone in or around Wamego wants $5000 for it. I am friends with the family that owns the Chevy dealership in Wamego and they tried to make a deal on the truck after it was pulled out of the barn just to display int he showroom but the owner had big dreams of making big bucks on the truck. I think its neat but I wouldn't give over 10 grand for a plane Jane truck even with 80 miles.

Anyone how has been around these vehicles know there are items, such as valve cover decals and imbossed vinyl base upholstry, that are just not reproduced and mass production factory work is extremely difficult to copy.
