Re: New one in the family!!
Thanks VA. He is a good kid and does well in school so I suppose he deserves it. He is helping with all of this too so he can learn a little along the way, which I think every kid should.

Re: New one in the family!!
Quick update, Cody and I got the rear of the frame cleaned and started sprayin it. Here is the before, I'll get the after up tomorrow hopefully. I sprayed some undercoat in the rear fenderwells and it looked really good. Hope to have the bed back on tomorrow by 3pm so he can take it to the car show at about 6. I'll get some pics from his first show too.

I was really happy to find such an original that was loaded. A tach would have been great, but I'm not complaining! The towing package is cool, look at the size of the rear springs!

Re: New one in the family!!
i will continue the mantra.....that is an awesome truck!
my dad's succession of burbs started out with a '72 he bought back in '83. it was the rare dealer highlander package as well. but back then it was just an old truck and he sold to upgrade to an '84 eight years later. Quote:
you can add a factory tach and vac gauge to your truck easily enough. did it on my burb for looks, function and trailering duties. i don't think it hurts value to add factory options especially if you are not removing the factory pieces (i kept all my other original gages). factory disc brakes and a front sway bar are the only additions are about the only things it really needs for daily driver status if it doesn't have them already. kinda like with the bomber crowd (oldies sub section of the low rider world) where they track down and install rare dealer items like compasses and extra trim etc to "bling" out their vehicles in factory fashion! Re: New one in the family!!
List of stuff we did today. We cut the tailpipes down some so they wouldn't stick out so far. The whole rear of the frame was painted and we buffed the rear of the cab and the front of the bed and re-installed the bed. Did a few small details with silver under the bed too. All of the rims were cleaned twice and then repainted to look identical to factory paint. From the factory the inside was black and the outside was white so a little overspray got on the black on the inside, we got it perfect. I undercoated the inner fenders and we also got the spare tire back under the truck after painting it. Here are some pics.

Here's pics of the 71-72 1/2 ton dog dish caps i'm selling.
$85 shipped if interested, seems to be getting harder to find clean ones. Cheers! Chad

Re: New one in the family!!
You can see the black on the trim has faded really bad. So I wanted to try my hand at getting the trim looking descent and well....it worked! The rims came out nice for just cleaning and shooting some paint on em.
