Re: What is this stepside worth?
From what I see you can buy it, clean it up and flip it for 1500-1800.

Re: What is this stepside worth?
The bed on this thing is not in great shape-right fender has some serious road rash. And the bed rails are not flat. And the tailgate has been knocked off and dented...THat is why I am asking which is more desirable, fleet short bed or step short bed, as I can probably buy either doner bed for replacement (Or if the truck frame will accomidate either as a bolt on)...thinking ahead...

Re: What is this stepside worth?
yes the short bed frame will accomidate either bed as a bolt on and u will get a different answer to which is more desirable fleet or step but more often than not, but a fleet is more desirable to most

Re: What is this stepside worth?
some are hardcore short step guys and will pay good money for the parts on that bed. Overall a short fleet is worth more...if you have a source on a cheap short fleet put that on and you'd have a 3,000 truck instantly as is...

Re: What is this stepside worth?
????
You can add on helpers if you're really worried about hauling/towing a lot of weight (which you would on leafs also) . If not, the coil spring/trailing rear is FAR superior to a leaf rear for handling and putting down power to the pavement.... In CA that might not be a super desireable truck. IN VA, it would go for 2000-2500 EASILY as it sits... a little paint on the bumpers and cleaning it up and it's a $3500+ truck here, in the NE, or midwest... but from what I've seen, a SWB truck in Cali is still worth 1000-1500 if running/driving and fairly rust free.

Re: What is this stepside worth?
OK-I am looking at posts and pics from you 67-72 guys, here is what I gather...
This truck has absolutly all the wrong stuff. Wrong bed, wrong motor, wrong brake (not power), wrong steering (not power), Wrong tranny, wrong steering column...ETC. The two items it seems to have going for it are disc brakes, and year (71 as far as I can tell). So, I think I will buy this, but would it not make more sense for me to buy, clean up a little, remove junk (rack, steel plate over wood bed, etc.), post for sale in SFO Bay area (where I work), sell it for as much as I can, and use profit toward buying one that is much closer to the final product-maybe not pretty, but correct OPTIONS? Or would I be better off scrounging around for all these upgrades? Which is cheaper in the long run??? |

Re: What is this stepside worth?
I think it is a steal! You can always customize to your prefrence, I am wondering what you think you will pay for a better optioned truck? Can always customize it with your son . Eric

Unless you can sell it for a great price after cleaning it up....you have a great platform to start with with the minimal rust and shortbed. You'll make good money selling the bed or potentially swap with someone wanting a stepside...and the ps/pb setups can be added cheap.

Just called Bill at Vitage here in bay, he says he has Zero beds to sell me, has been out for 2 years. THey leave sooner then they arrive-says he can sell all he can buy. That said, it appears there are none to buy-at least in this area...
