If not I am calling the Hwy Patrol Boys over and take a look at it and get my money back!

This really have my blood boiling after thinking this over!!!

Please give me your thoughts, cuz this is not funny any more!

Where else can I check to make sure the Title matches this vechile?

Re: **My Trick or Treat Toy**

Are you looking at the VIN plate on the door jam and seeing a "K3" or on your title? If it's on the title it was probably miswritten or keyboarded in wrong at one time. I wouldn't get too excited yet. The SPID is correct for a 3/4 4 wheel drive and your VIN would be too if it was an "E" instead of the "3". I think you will be fine

Re: **My Trick or Treat Toy**

the only places I have checked are the title and the glove box SPID. They do not match at all. will check the door jam in the AM but it more than likely matches the glove box SPID only and not my title.

Someone has been playing around here and I hope I am not getting excited over nothing.

Re: **My Trick or Treat Toy**

Glove box sticker means nothing. Alot of these old trucks have unlegible or non matching glove boxes and can be reproduced with a typewriter. Only thing to be concerned about here in Mo. is the title and the vin plate first off. Those two need to match. If they dont match each other, time to get some what excited and have a long talk with whom you purchased this from to either get it to match some how or find out what happened to the title that matches the vin #'s. In our state during state inspections they are actually taking digital pics of Vin #'s and the odometer readings. Real common in certain areas due to fraudlant Insp. Stations. Surely someone would catch mismatched vin's during this process eventially as in your case in Jef City as they receive that pic via internet before the sticker is approved for the vehicle.

Re: **My Trick or Treat Toy**

+1 on what Sammy said relative to title and VIN plate. If the title matches the VIN tag in all respects except the "E" is a "3" I think it is a clerical error that could easily be corrected. Keep us posted.

Re: **My Trick or Treat Toy**

So at this point I just need to double check my title VIN against the door jam VIN, correct?

Appreciate everyone's help here. BIG TIME!

Well in Jefferson County which is right outside of St. Louis county. And they are cracking we wip around here to make older vehicles fall in line with today's standards.

Right now the numbers are off but just barely. From the title is K3267Zxxxxxx to the VIN Tag# KE267Zxxxxxx. Will the DoR clear this up or should I still contact Missouri State Hwy Patrol?

Thanks everyone.

Re: **My Trick or Treat Toy**

I'd check with the seller first...could have been a simple mistake on his part. I know I have several titles laying around here from parts trucks and what not....Could have just grabbed the wrong one.

Re: **My Trick or Treat Toy**

Contact the seller give him a chance, voice your concern with the mismatch title vin and plate, He might be able to get it corrected for you or like said above have made a very honest mistake. If he trys to shake it off as a no-issue, just take your paper work and him (if he will go) to the DMV. Get a straight answer from them. Get the title changed into your name with all the correct numbers. ($8?) You won't need a safety Insp, for a in repairs vehicle.

Smile Re: **My Trick or Treat Toy**

Well here is the problem with that.

He NEVER had this put in his name. Claimed he used it to tow boat to the lake. I did not even look at the title until I got it home off the flatbed!

Left a V.M. for MO. Hwy Patrol to call me back this AM to get more answers.

Thanks!

Re: **My Trick or Treat Toy**

Keep us posted on the outcome.
Always check vin with title.
$200 fine for not transfering a title into your name within 30 days regardless in our state unless you are a dealer then they may get another extension. This way the state gets their taxes and your title is less complicated for ease of ownership.

Re: **My Trick or Treat Toy**

Okay guys I think my friend kept feeding the fire here to be honest with ya.

Was talking about how his buddy spent over $200 to have Troop C go thru every part of his car to find the VINs and it was not pretty.

Now on the back of my form it clearly states the fees involved. And I can say with absolute certainty that my fees should NOT be that excessive.

He was wanting me to take this whole mess back to PO and have him straight this mess out. But I honestly do not have the time or bravado to doing those kinds of things.

This issue is not 100% resolved but at least it's one step closer.

And Sammy once everything is all cleared up and she is back road worthy I will have to tak you up on that offer.

Re: **My Trick or Treat Toy**

Well my friend may have been right all along!

I went back to Troop C and talked to one of the gentlemen there and I asked a few questions. And he basically said they can't tell me if it has been stolen or not w/o looking it over. In which case it could go back to the previously registered owner, then I would be out a LOT of money and have to hire a lawyer to coup my money.

Just do not know until I get the stupid tranny fixed and get it over there for the GOOD NEWS. At least that's what I am hoping for, and just having good postive thoughts so it will be all peaches and cream!
