Blazer sliding window

Heres a picture of mine. I picked this single wall top up last year with the sliders and a decent rear hatch.

I have a set on my single wall top what are they worth? I would like to go to a soft top.

I have never noticed these before, but I am new to the 72 thing. A day after reading this post, I see a 1st gen Blazer in the parking lot of the Sacramento swap meet this am. I took a pic, but I don't know how to post it.

Guys - I came across this slider in the back of a topless, stripped 72 Blazer. Is this a 1st gen K5 slider??

Unlike all other sliders I've seen it has a single sliding pane of glass. The frame measures roughly 49.25" x 15" in greatest dimensions exclusive of the channel. I don't have my K5 here yet (still in NM) so have nothing to compare with.

Wow! This is an old thread. Post #26 was me before I became a vendor. Let me go out and take a couple measurements.

I get 49 1/4" x 14". You may have just got very lucky! My measurement is metal to metal across the bottom and top to bottom. Not sure if any of this helps but good luck!

Thank you sir! I appreciate the help. The shape looked correct but I'm not certain. Has anyone seen a single pane slider for a first gen K5 top????

i had them on my 75 blazer really liked them. kept the truck cool,didn't have ac fixed. but they worked great for me and i liked the way they looked.

Thanks Kirk - I've been looking hard for a set: sell yours to me please so I have a complete set!!!

The installation instructs were still taped to this window but in bad shape. They do describe two top styles and have diagrammatic x-sections that show 1) One style has fiberglass edge of top inline with the glass (single wall?) 2) another style where the glass is offset from the edge of the top (double wall?). For the second style, the instructs say the opening in the top for the glass needs to be widened 3/16" to accommodate the slider but a chunk of the details are gone. These instructs seem to imply the use of the OEM gaskets. Again, I'm not totally convinced this is a slider for a 1st gen - will need my Blazer here to confirm.

Any way to post these instructions on here? I got mine from a double wall but I have a single wall top. Not sure if the gasket is the same but I do have the gasket. I have to say I like the one sliding glass a little more than the double.

I think they might look a little better if the aluminum was polished. I like them though. That single panel slider looks real nice.

You bet - I'm still in the process of moving into my new home and my desktop XP computer/scanner aren't hooked up yet. Once the scanner is working I'll post the instructs. Again, at least for the slider I have, it looks to use the OEM gasket. I still need to hold this up to my top (when it arrives) and confirm it is for a first gen K5.

Thanks - the slider is NOS and that aluminum will polish up real nice. The sad part is there is no LH slider...I actually found two NOS RH sliders one a bit banged up with a broken pane

Here's a scan of the instructs found taped to the above NOS slider. You can see how it provides for installation for two different top styles, one needing to be trimmed 3/16" around the opening for the glass (double wall? Anyone know?). It seems to me that at least with this style slider the OEM gasket can be used. Unfortunately, it may be a few weeks yet before my Blazer arrives and I can confirm this window does indeed fit a first gen. If so, there couldn't have been many of these put into use.

How funky would my top look with a single slider window?

I'm not sure what is what for the tops on the instructions. I'll have to pull my side glass from my single wall to see. If they use stock gaskets I have both so that will be a plus.

ugly, ugly, ugly, dont ruin a good blazer with those ......just my opinion, they take the classic look of a blazer and make it look like a farm truck gone wrong....if gm liked them they would have put them in

I kind of like the single slider better. It's less obtrusive. The ochre one above is a good representation.

I'm on the fence myself but GM did add sliders to the subsequent generations of K5's so something went well....

I like the look. Any chance you have a spare for the driver side? Not sure if it's the single or double wall that needs to be trimmed to accept this style of slider. If my single wall doesn't need to be cut I'll likely install the slider I have for the RH side come spring. Thanks for posting.
