Were you the guy I talked to after driving on the track? I may have talked to the other guy with the truck like yours.

Re: Buttercup '66
an update is WAY past due. By now I think everyone has seen the truck.
So the motor I had in the truck had some SERIOUS blow back issues. I tore it down and found three broken top rings and a lobe on the cam was almost rounded off. Before Goodguys I yanked the whole frontend and redid the firewall. It was painted and black and bugged the hell out of me. I used some custom mix rattle cans from the local paint store and it worked PERFECT!!! I then tossed in a temporary vortec headed SBC just to get me there. The old motor is getting an internal makeover. Its still going to "look" like the factory 283... but its going to be healthy :-) MUHAHAHAHA I also had to do a little rust repair while the frontend was off... the lower cowl had a big hole in it. Top Banana hooked me up with the right part. As for the rest of the truck... When the motor goes back in its getting a 700R4 and powersteering. A long with a CPP rear swaybar. I actually picked up the Steering box and Pump from Richards in Denton, NC this past Saturday. Other than that... Im going to lower the seat a little to give the Jewels a little extra room to breath :-)

Re: Buttercup '66
Your truck looks Killer. How did you get The 5.5 in front? Just drop coils or spindels also? What size tires you running? That 283/350 looks awesome.

Re: Buttercup '66
So some updates... Got the new motor just about ready... and should finish the 700R4 up tonight. I went with the Monster Kit for it... alot of good parts BUT it only has the red clutches and Kolene Steels in the 1st gear clutch pack.... I dont like that. Might have to go back through it and fix that. The wheels are going to be painted gloss black this time around, and I found a set of 15x8 steelies for the rear.
The rest... is in the details.

Re: Buttercup '66
Well I have been super busy on the Cup. Finished rebuilding the new 700r4 lastnight. Its going to be a bad little dude! To bad its not going to be in that long!! I worked out a 6 speed from the astronaut! That has always been the long term idea/plan. As for the "283" :-) I say it like that cause its actually a nasty 385 hidden under the look of a plain, original 283. The problem I ran into is the chevy script valvecovers so im adding 1/2 inch to the height of them. The idea is to be a TOTAL sleeper. Other than that I found an original Edelbrock c4B that I detailed and painted to look again.... like a factory intake. Trying to figure out the pulley setup too. The powersteering pump is way to far forward and is super misaligned. Lets see what else..... I also picked up a set of NASCAR trailing arms for it!! This thing is going to handle like a go Kart when im done!
