Re: GMC 305 V6 Rebuild with pics
Looks like is spun a rod bearing, which means that rod will need work and more than likely the crank as well. Rods spinning a bearing no big deal crank spin a main that gets to be pricey as a line bore is needed etc. Make sure you number the rods and rods caps, as well the mains ...do not mix them up. As well I have found that a digital camera rocks for things like this you cannot take too many pictures. Looking good, I would not do any machine work or buy any parts until block is magnafluxed maybe even the heads as well... I do not think parts are going to be easy to find so take your time.

Re: GMC 305 V6 Rebuild with pics
Oh believe me I have more pics than youd want to see. I used my customary way (way I was taught) of marking the side of the rod cap with a punch, and then the same side of the rod, that way number of dots and sides match up. But then I was happy to see that they are factory marked; on one side of the rod and cap it has a number stamped. Pretty cool.
The rod is going to need work and the crank is going to need a lot of work |

Re: GMC 305 V6 Rebuild with pics
I didn't notice that. What a shame.
Maybe an admin will pop in and let us know what's what. Maybe it just needs downgrading to a regular account? |
