Pulled the dead q-jet off and put my "universal" 670 Holley Street Avenger and spreadbore adapter on the car for now. That carb has been on my '78 Caprice, my '67 c-10 and now the Riviera. It usually gets used until I have funds for fuel injection... I also removed the trim mounts and did the last bit of welding on the passenger door as well as stripped it for bodywork.

Put plug wires, cap and rotor on, and set the timing. I also got the Holley tuned and took the car "around the block." Living in the country has its upsides. Back roads with almost no traffic and no cops make test drives in the in a stripped down car a possibility! I also got the drivers door stripped. All that is left painted nasty brown is the passenger fender, the header panel and some filler pieces for around the front bumper and the headlights! Well and the door jambs, but I will not strip them just clean the heck out of them, Paint POR-15 on any inaccessible rust, and do a dust coat of self etching primer before they get epoxy and color (same technique I used on the inner trunk lid.

Of course I snapped a couple pics while it was out...

Its a 30'x40'X14' pole Barn with half of the floor 6" thick (to support a two post lift someday) and 5" for the rest. I also have 200 amp electrical service so I can power just about anything I could ever want unless it is 3 phase. Are you ready for the bill?....$28000. That did include $2000 for rock to build the driveway because I put it 200 ft from the road. I wanted to leave room if I ever decide to put a house over there. However, I inherited $10,000 and the 2/3 acre that it sits on, so it really only cost me about 18 grand out of pocket. I am very happy with it and how it turned out, unfortunately I already used up most of the space

Stripped the last two major pieces, Did a bunch of body work and filled in the marker lights on the front fenders. I mocked up the front end to make sure everything matches up good. I will let the pictures speak for themselves...

Thats the car that triggered my interest in Buicks and their torque monster emitting big blocks. Yep a Boat (tail) but very desirable IMO. Super cool & on my automotive bucket list.

I know how you feel, I wanted one of these ever since I was a kid, I probably overpaid for this one but I couldn't live without it once I saw it for sale. You are right about Buick big blocks, that 455 has more torque than anything other stock vehicle I have ever driven. especially keeping in mind that '72 was the first year for "de-tuning" and the end of massive horsepower...well until recently.

I cut the rear springs so that the car would sit level, I think it looks much better now... A couple pics after and one of before to show the difference.

I have always loved the boat tail Rivis, and have been wanting to add one to my personal collection for a long time. Cool to see another forum member building one. I'm looking forward to seeing this one come together.

Long overdue update. It doesn't look like I have gotten much done, BUT anyone who has done bodywork knows it is a labor intensive process to get it right so... It is almost all in primer now. Passenger side is blocked out and driver's side is half way blocked out. Rear bumper is blocked out. Front fenders are primed but need to be blocked out. Hopefully in a couple weeks, I can have it all blocked out, seal it and paint it!

For the longest time, I have been trying to figure out what to do with my front plate since Illinois requires one. If you look at the pics of the black car (not mine) in post 6 of the thread, you can see what the modified bumper looks like when the upper portion is cut out and the plate bracket removed. I decided to section the front bumper and modify the original front plate bracket to fit in the front bumper. The results are what I have pictured. My goal was to make it look like it was meant to be there. The picture of the red car is not mine, I just put it there to show what the stock front bumper would have looked like.

Got it painted this weekend! Needs to be sanded and polished in a few places because of overspray, a couple bugs, and dust, but it looks pretty good overall.
