Good! I didn't ask my question because I thought he already found a fool. He will,I guess. Just not in that auction. Good job!

Re: CAUTION SWB BB on Ebay!

The seller took new pics and re-listed the truck. He included the following paragraph in the new listing.

"Hello
Sorry for the confusion yesterday. Thanks for the heads up about the mistake. My web guy did not pay attention posted the wrong photos. I removed the ad after seeing that the photos he had posted were mixed up between a truck that was sold last year and our truck for sale now. I have posted new photos of the truck today as you can see the weather is still pretty ugly here. The 2nd owner sold us the truck from an eBay ad a few months ago and it has just arrived here this week. The 2nd owner lowered and restored the truck 9 years ago. the 2nd owner and I made a deal to have the truck brought back up to original heigth. It has a new front end rebuild with springs, ball joints and tie rod ends. It is what is offered in the description and the spid is accurate. the 2nd owner added power windows and power locks that all work. I have added the wood grain, bucket seats and console."

It looks like it may have been an honest mistake or had an employee post the ebay ad and got the pictures mixed up.

Looks like I was right.

Re: CAUTION SWB BB on Ebay!

I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt but the carefully photo-shopped pics and the fact that he didn't have any recent pics to post (until yesterday) seems pretty fishy. Blaming the Internet guy for mixing up pictures is pretty weak considering the correct pictures apparently didn't exist until yesterday.

I was the high bidder on that truck twice on Ebay. It is certainly a real-deal SWB BB truck that should bring good money if a few more things are reworked. At least a potential buyer will be viewing pics of the truck they are considering hitting the "Buy it Now" button on.

Re: CAUTION SWB BB on Ebay!

I can understand how mixing up some pictures can happen, however, photoshoping is something entirly different, if the gawd awful exhaust had been removed then take new pic's..

Re: CAUTION SWB BB on Ebay!

Nice catch on this one!
The tach/speedo in the pic is the wrong one for '72. The '72 has the round red light for the high beam indicator not rectangular, which is C10-30 67-70 or a grain/dump truck 67-72. It probably came out of a grain/dump truck, as these are easier to find. If so, the fuel gauge will have "overspeed" and "tandem lock" on it. The super emblem is in the wrong location, no cargo light as mentioned before, and the wrong brake booster and master cylinder, etc.
Anyway thanks for letting all us folks know.

That's neat , but in the pictures of the truck that were shown, some had switches in place of the stock cranks, and some had cranks!

Anyway, the fact that the seller or his "internet guy" went through the trouble to photoshop the mufflers in the original listing makes the whole operation very suspect.

Re: CAUTION SWB BB on Ebay!

I just looked at the new link, there is no way in hell that truck is worth that much to me. "Cosmetic restoration" sure it got some paint and carpet 9 years ago but come on, the whole underside of the truck needs to be restored along with all the rest of the dents and everything else.. and it needs to be done along more recient than 9 years ago..

Come on, you never know he may not know how to list his own pictures on his auctions. Besides, it's south central OK.

You are absolutely right! That truck was on Ebay twice and I was high bidder both times in the mid teens. At that price it is worth replacing the grossly tinted glass, removing the lowering stuff, replacing the missing parts, etc. That is not a high $20's truck. He has lowered the Buy it Now twice (now at $27,900).

Re: CAUTION SWB BB on Ebay!

I've got to agree with Dantip, this truck is not a high 20's quality truck, I don't think the frame was even painted. I've seen the high 20s trucks at various shows around the nation, and this truck ain't it. Mid teens at best. Everybody comments on this topic are right on.

I'm just curious if he thinks the high $$$ price tag is because true BB SWB trucks are pretty rare? Who knows? I know it would be nearly impossible to build a numbers matching concourse show winner for the under $30K. In any case it's not original enough to fetch that price we all know that. I think somewhere around $18-20K? possibly?
