ahhh that makes alot more sense to me now . I would think you would outrun the car. Once you get "used" to the power, it will seem slower to you. I used to think my truck was quick with the 355 until i got "used" to the way it felt.. then i wanted more. Everyone else still thought it was pretty quick though. Go figure. Almost like car subwoofers... hit real hard then you get used to them and you think somethings wrong with em

ya well ive only driven it a couple times but its a pretty decent build for my first one. i figure if i lose a couple times to some new vechiles then ill just put a 454 that i have in it. or maybe just run a 383 motor that was in my 78 chevy. figure just take my cam heads and intake can carb just just bolt them on. to get a little more tq.

lol no i kno this i been reaserching alot . and no offense taken. i read alot of your post. and know that you have alot of info on high performance, but i have a 144 blower that could help me get the power im looking for. yah im the same person who was lookin to run e85 with the blower but still havnt crossed that bridge.

Spme point soon I will be switching to E85 as well. Might even give it a try next time I am at the track.

ya well i have flat top pistons so i figured there probably isnt really a way to just changed pistons to change to a lower compression. and without having the motor sent out. so im thinking may e85 will be better to run with the flat top pistons. or just build my next motor to run the supercharger. in a 66 el camino but its all money and never stops

Who cares how much HP anything has,,, it's TORQUE that accelerates the hunk of steel down the track, not HP. Point being,, If this Dodge makes its 475HP at 4800RPM... and your 383 makes it's 405HP at 6500rpm,, the dodgie is gonna spank you BIG TIME.

475hp at 4800prm = over 500 pound feet of torque (TWIST) on the drive shaft

405 @ 6500 is only 325 pound feet of twist,,

and you have to wait for the motor to climb through the power band to 6800, so who cares about HP,, it's a calculation of torque over time is all. Find out what kind of TORQUE both motors make, and at what RPM range and I think the reason the butt-o-meter thinks the dodgie is quicker,,, it may well be. I tell you, these new motors are pretty frickin amazing.

Just remember... drah racing doesn't descriminate on who has more money
You can run quite a bit of compression with E-85. I know a guy running 12.9:1 with it. You could keep the flat tops if you wanted.. mainly just changing the fuel system. Ole Marv knows his stuff.. listen to him

yah ive spoken to him on the phone about my setup and runing the blower. with e85 its goign to cost me around 700 boost referenced carb
