Yes, Under or behind the seat. Between the springs and foam. Some guys have found them under the carpet or behind the tank, you never know. Most are long gone..

no i wish i knew everything about this truck like were it came from and such. all i know is the guy that built it, builds one or two a year and i did find the painter.i can tell in some spots of the truck it is the same color as the original however the interior is not the original color like the seats and sunvisors but i like the way it blends with the truck is there a way to do a trace with the vin?

Not with the VIN. The vin will not show options. The vin will show what assembly plant it was built at.

Also you might have a protecto plate with the owner protection plan. Have you found any paper work like that in your truck?

I know this thread has not been updated in a long while but why is it that almost every 71 I have seen is blue and white (even mine)

The build sheet is commonly found under the "webbing" below the seat. At least on a bench anyway. If it's still there, be careful, because it's likely torn as it is. I made a copy, put it in a plastic sheet and put the original off to bed, never to be seen again.
