Oh yah, and apologies for the digression from the 19s to the 19.5s. Seems like people will casually refer to the 19.5s as "19s". Bad assumption on my part. I'm sure it will turn out sharp no matter which way you go based on the work you've done so far.

As said, I plan to run 245/70s on my K30. I only have the stock 3-leaf front pack though, plus a Rancho add-a-leaf (supposed to raise 1-1.5"). Hopefully they won't rub too bad. Thoughts?

P.S. - As far as the confusion regarding the OP and his lowered dually, the fact that it is lowered was never mentioned anywhere in the original post. As said, many refer to 19.5s as 19s. Sorry for the confusion, was just trying to help...

2" Bell spindles and 2" lower springs up front, shackles and smaller pack in the rear. Truck rides fine. I've driven it every day since last July. Prior owner did the same for nearly a year before that. It was a street trucks magazine tech article project.

anyone know the specs on the 245/70/19.5 vs 225/70? I seem to be able to find all the specs for the smaller size tires but not those. I need to know how tall they are. I talked to a gm guy who runs them on two of his 1 tons, he's got 8r19.5s, but they look like steer tires, not what I want. Real tall, but ultra skinny with no discernable tread. Wont work on a 4wd that I want to be able to hunt and plow with. I'll be looking for 6 drive tires.
Anyway, I am guessing the 245 will be at least 33". I've got room for 35-36 at least. Anything smaller than 33 is going to look too small imo.

Thanks thats just what I was looking for. Def want to go with the 33s, I already have 31s and they're too small for a lifted truck. Plus the big wheel will make the smaller tire look even smaller. I know some (a lot!) of you guys like the look of a big rim and a tiny sidewall, but it's not for me.

It's not so much that it's 'liked', it's more out of necessity. Depending on the ride height, you have room for X amount of inches before interference. Deduct the 19" rim diameter & divide what's left by 2 (top & bottom sidewall height) & that's what you have to work with or you're going to have to start cutting/modifying (or raising) the truck.

Me personally.... I feel 4" minimum sidewall height is needed to survive our well kept roads.

I have had quite a few tire discussions with Trevor over at TNW&T and spent countless hours researching my options. The discussions started with the standard 245/45-19 recommendation but I really don't want a 27.5" tall tire so I am looking to go with a 255/55-19 and 235/75-16 which will yield about a 30" tall tire which is still 1.75" shorter then the factory setup. Now as far as loads go, my GAWR in the rear is 7500lbs or 1875lbs per tire. All of the tires I found in the sizes listed above are in the 2100-2300lb range so I should be fine. I'm not a fan of the 'classics'. The holes are scaled too small for the wheel mass (it's also what I dislike about my 16" classics).

OR how have the tire companies NOT caught onto the trend- and make better 19.5 and 22.5" tires???? But I agree- 20" dually rims would rock!

ya heres mine its a 76 454 truck with 64k original miles...it was a 16.5 wheeled truck and finally located some 19.5s turned out trick lookin

I found some older 22.5's steelies and was wanting to put them on 84 reg can c30 but I ain't got a clue if they'll work Any thoughts?
