This is your typical drum to disc brake change, but wanted to post the pics.
Pic 1 Old drum brakes. Pic 2 Old brakes, arms, springs, etc. removed, with new 2-1/2" drop spindles and 1-1/2" drop coil springs.

Re: Jimbo's 67 Long bed step side build
At this point I have a question for all of you, that knows these trucks (first time for me). The front end seems really wide compared to the rear. If I checked right the rear axle mounting flange to flange is approx. 60" wide, while the front measures at approx 65". Is this because of the conversion stuff used, or is the 70-72 narrower because they came from the factory with disc brakes? Someone give me a clue.

Re: Jimbo's 67 Long bed step side build
Pic 1 Where cross sill would go.
Pic 2 Spacer I made to go between frame and tank, so tank would not be so far above the frame, and only part of cross sill removed. Pic 3 Modified cross sill.

Re: Jimbo's 67 Long bed step side build
Because I lowered the tank, the frame had to be notched for filler tube clearance.

Re: Jimbo's 67 Long bed step side build
Sorry so late posting, had things to go to.
While waiting for more parts, I started to remove the drip rail, cut off on the side first in short sections.

Re: Jimbo's 67 Long bed step side build
Then weld back together, and do the next section. This way I didn't let everything move around.

Here you can see across the front, you have the A pillar header, inside roof and outside roof, with the drip rail removed.
