Re: 82 front suspension on a 66 questions

I used the original brackets and mounts.
If I remember correctly, the newer mounts got in the way of the down dump ramshorn exhaust manifold.

The alternative would be to use a pair of the original 230/250 I6 and V8 motor mount brackets. I have a few sets if you decide to go that way.
Captian, the pic I post of the frame brackets and mounts are from a 82 C20.

Re: 82 front suspension on a 66 questions

I think I may just go with the tublar towers with clam shell motor mounts. I know that will bolt into the top of frame. I may need to drill x member. I also heard the tublar ones move engine forward a bit to help the hei dist clear the firewall. Drawback, $$$$$ money tight around here!

I went back and looked again and I see that they are very close to the right height for the frame. I think you could just trim the frame back about 1/2-3/4", drill new holes and you're done. You should probably check the center to center distance of the motor mounts, before you drill those holes. According to protrash64's build thread, that measurement should be aprox 16-3/4"
