Re: brought home a 68 yesterday!

Nice truck, If you're open on the weekend of 7-10-11 a Sunday, there is a huge truck show put on by "Brothers Trucks" with about 300 Chevy and GMC, we go every year and have a blast.

Re: brought home a 68 yesterday!

so i took a closer look today, and the front engine stamping reads MJO 3800 (that's em-jay-oh three eight zero zero).

i can't find any reference to MJO anywhere online. i read somewhere that this might be a mexican built (M = Mexico) crate engine, and the 3800 is the last four digits of the part number. anyone know about this? any chevy dealer parts counter guys out there?

please help.

thanks!

Re: brought home a 68 yesterday!

If I remember correctly....our '76 El Camino w/350 was orange and my '78 Camaro's 305 was blue (both bought brand new).....so they changed the sbc's from the orange to the light blue in maybe '77 or so?

That would be right, Chev started making the Blue small block in '77. but that is about all I know about them, the year.

If yours is like mine, there is that vinyl strip running at the front of the bottom (behind your knees) that whole thing the length of the bench is a pocket. Hope yours has it too!

Re: brought home a 68 yesterday!

I couldn't find much on that engine code either (the MeJicO crate motor theory sounds good tho). I sure like your truck. Saddle-(Off)White C20s are the best.
