Re: what were the rare options?
bucket seats as an option?? Never seen or heard of them as available in a 60-66 chev... I HAVE heard of them in a jimmy - I believe they were very similar (if not identical) to the ones that chev offered in 67 and up.
Anyone know for certain if chevs had a bucket seat option in 60-66's?? Cool thread - I never would have guessed that the red seat option was a factory one - learn something new every day! Thanks for starting the thread and posting! |

Re: what were the rare options?
My '64 c10 came with a rear veiw mirror(didnt realize that was rare??) Also, its an I-6 with dealer add on air that still works. I have the half over load spring things on the rear as well. It has a factory radio as well, but the block off plate is still in the glove box. Maybe someone added it. It still comes on, just no sound. Maybe needs a speaker. Any of this stuff rare options or anything?

its the day/night mirror that was the extra cost option. so you can flip the lever and keep glare out of your eyes. most rear view mirrors I have seen only have the single layer of glass and no lever. |

Re: what were the rare options?
Really? Were talkin Chevy now, not GMC. I wanna see.
Factory options and dealer accessories are different things. I think some of the dealer stuff can be a bit more obscure. Example: my 65 burb has a nice compass mounted on the rear view mirror, which I think is period aftermarket, but I'm also pretty sure one was offered by Chevrolet. Re: what were the rare options?
Nowhere does the OP state chevy or gmc just 66. I'm pretty sure we're talking GM though. Note the mentioned thread above for the rpo sheet showing buckets as an option.

Re: what were the rare options?
Yelmer also does not mention chevy or gmc. Would it be fair to say that bucket seats for gm trucks were available prior to 67?

Re: what were the rare options?
I have the day/night mirror in my 64. Must be the only option the truck came with. Everything else was a base as can be.

Re: what were the rare options?
I guess since I started this mess by asking the question - yes, (if we go back up a few posts where the bucket questions started) I did specify I believe they may be a GMC option (sorry twiztid, just giving you a little crap - I know your comment wasn't directed to my earlier post) - my question was whether or not they were ever actually an option in a 60-66 Chevy, that I had never seen that if that was the case.
Still haven't, as a matter of fact. All the pics in the provided post were GMC. Last edited by jocko; 06-30-2011 at 10:20 PM. |

Re: what were the rare options?
i guess i got the red seat upholstery thing started, but in the chevrolet trucks(not gmc)i have never seen anything about a bucket seat option anywhere in the gm literature and have never seen any in all the years i have messed with these trucks.i have only seen bucket seats in the chevrolet panel trucks of that era.

Re: what were the rare options?
i guess my truck has some options that i did'nt know were rare--posi rear end,2 sun visors, cigar lighter, and it was an automatic and power brakes and big window. also the seat is the full foam whatever because it is coming out of the upholstry.

Re: what were the rare options?
My '66 C10 long-step came from the factory with the 327, TH400, and posi.
Unfortunately, when I bought it there was a 350 and TH350 in it. I often lay awake at night and wonder where the 327/TH400 went...

Re: what were the rare options?
if it was a c-10 it came with a 327 powerglide you could only get the turbo 400 in a 3/4 c-20 sounds like a neat truck
