Exhaust manifold ideas?

I thought that grinding cast parts smooth actually did NOT let them shed heat as fast? I had always heard that criticism of guys that ground smooth their blocks before painting them. It's my understanding that ceramic powder coating is supposed to hold the heat in, not let it come out or "shed" the heat faster. But maybe I'm all wet.

The reason for grinding them isn't just to go smooth but to remove casting flash. It also reduces the chance of cracking them. Smoothing the block is the same thing except those sharp edges cut when your not expecting your wrench to slip off .
The ceramic coating does keep the heat in but that's a good thing on headers. The exhaust flow stays at a quicker pace out of the heads keeping things cooler in the engine compartment.

Well, that's a great explanation, thanks! I was just looking at my stock manifolds today; they're cleanly blasted. Just won't know for sure I'd I'm going to use these or not. no hurry here! ; )
